It's happening to me right now which is what made me think to ask. The first time it happened, I was a freshman in college in the cafeteria and I thought I was going blind!! I went to an eye doctor and they told me it was "ocular migraines." Sometimes I go months without it happening and sometimes I get it like every day! I've had a few the past week and it's so annoying!! Luckily, my eyes just go blurry and I don't really get the bad headache that soemtimes comes with it. (Unfortunately, I DO get regular migraines too which put me out for the night!) It only lasts for like 10-20 mins and it starts as a little blureither at the bottom or corner of my eyes and travels up my eyes and eventually out. It's so weird! I get most mad when I'm trying to watch TV because I feel like I have to keep squinting to see but it doesn't help. (I hope I didn't spell any words wrong!)

Yep, I get them. I get the full blown migraine with it though. It starts as a numbness in my upper left lip with pressure behind the eye. Then I get the sparklies. You're right though.....they're totally annoying

O i get them too-i hate it! I havent had one in a few months, but like you said, sometimes ill get a few a week..so painful!

I actually had one today.
For me, it starts with a small sparkly circle that gradually becomes a bigger and bigger ring. Eventually, it gets big enough to go out of my line of vision. The occular part isn't painful, but I sometimes get a dull headache afterwards. They seem to be getting more frequent in the last few years.

I used to get migraine headaches. One was bad enough to send me to the ER for a shot. I took medication for them. Then I went to a chiropractor and had some neck adjustments. No more migraine headaches. But I did get the ocular thing you are talking about for awhile. It would be like I couldn't see anything out of half of one eye, and I would see lots of squiggles. It would last 20 minutes or so. I had them sometimes at work. I was waitressing then so it was kind of hard to keep working when it happened. I haven't had it happen in several years now though.

I get ocular migraines. Mine start in my left eye with blind spots that moves across to my right eye until it's gone. I don't get the actual headache but it still makes me feel yucky.
Now, I do get migraines with the headache sometimes but it doesn't start the same way. I start seeing bright squiggly (sp) lines with those. I don't like either one.

DH gets ocular migraines. He describes it as wavy lines that begin to vibrate slowly then faster and his field of vision starts to spiral. He says he doesn't have a headache, but he gets so motion sick he has to go to bed for about an hour. The first time it happened I took him to the ER because we thought he was having a stroke!

DH gets them. Very scary. Thought he was going blind the 1st time

I do! :wave2: :headache:

I got TWO today and one yesterday! :sad2:

I've been getting them since my twenties and I can't figure out what triggers them, if anything. I can go months and months without one and then have a couple in a row.

I get the blurry, zig zag line in my vision and then I know I'm about to get a migraine. The headache lasts all day.

Yesterday was a first for me. I dreamed about getting one and had the zig zag blurry vision and then I woke up with the headache!!!

The two times in a row today is more rare but has happened a couple of times before.

I wish there was a cure cause I don't like them. They always happen at the worst times. The worst is while I'm driving. :(

I had one several years ago. Luckily that was the only one. It was a squiggly blurry area in my vision. I thought I was having a stroke. DH is an optometrist so he could diagnose me at home. I did not get the headache.

This is what I get too. In years past it signaled the start of the nasty nasty headache. Now, the ocular part comes more frequently and the headache is only slight afterward. Really is a problem though when it starts when I'm driving. Also makes it hard to work until it's past, since I can't see the screen.

When I first started getting migraines, this is how they would come. Once I went through pueberty they stopped that way, now I just get the earth shattering pain, which you know, fair trade, right?? I totally feel you though, try explaining those when you're 7. I hate migraines, I wouldn't wish one on my worst enemy. Feel better!

I get them and I find BC headache powder knocks them out every time, fast too. It may be the caffeine, but they work like a charm.

I have them where 1/2 my body went numb, very scary.

I started getting ocular migraines after giving birth to my DD. I had a spinal block, and the doctor told me to lie flat of my back for like eight hours after delivery without lifting my head. I did what he said, but I still got the migraines because of the spinal block. When the strange vision problems started, I thought I was going blind. I had never had a migraine before the spinal block, and the migraines were always preceded by the vision problems. I call them "lightning flashes". Mine are triggered by flickering fluorescent lights, bright lighting, strobe lights, etc. I can knock out my vision problems now in about 10 minutes by taking three regular Bayer aspirins as soon as the flickering in my eyes begin. Since I discovered "the cure", I have never had another migraine headache.

I had one. I was driving and all of a sudden I got this blurry *c* shaped thing in my eye. I was close to my Dr. office so I drove right there and got in as an emergency. He sent me to the eye Dr.
It was so scary because I had no idea what was happening to me!!

I get headache migraines all the time, but so far that was the only ocular one.

I get them. I've only gotten 3 or 4 over about 20 years. They start with a jittery feeling and a loss of peripheral vision. Then I start seeing jagged colored lights and then the headache comes. As soon as I lose peripheral vision, I take ibuprofen and drink Coke. The headache was unbearable the first time, but since then it hasn't been as bad as a full-blown migraine. I don't get classic migraine, only ocular migraines and only rarely. It is very strange.

I've only had a few. The first one scared the daylights out of me. The last one happened while I was driving. Mine are wavy psychedelic lines on the periphery of my vision.
