Does anyone else find this odd?

Okay...I just don't get it....IF Disney can send me PAP "vouchers" that are plastic then why can't they give me an actual pass that is plastic? This is our first time as AP holders, so it's still like Greek to me somtimes, and my biggest fear is that the blasted passes will not work because of the demagnitized strip...guess I'll cross that bridge if it happens....we'll see this week...first trip as AP holders and DVC members.

I remember when my AP had my picture on it!! :)

I am not a huge fan of the paper either. Since the voucher is plastic and room keys are plastic I don't see why they can't get me a plastic AP as well!

The chance of a demagnitized strip is the same for both the paper and the plastic tickets.

And the plastic is more likely to break.

I would rather have plastic as well. We have had AP's for many years, the only problem I have had is one day we ended up in a major downpour. The water on mainstreet was literally 6 inches deep. All four of our AP's were in my fannypack in the AP sleeve and they still soaked so bad that hey fell apart when I tried to take them out to dry. That would not have happend with plastic.

Aren't the plastic passes made out of the same type of plastic as credit cards? I've never had a credit card break. I realize it's *possible*, of course, but it seems pretty unlikely.

The problem comes in the printing of the plastic cards. The machines that print the credit card type APs are expensive - think about the number of locations you can purchase an AP on site ...

I have 10 day no expiration tickets that I bought through Maple Leaf.
I've heard how they can be hard to read sometimes.
Where do you go to have the ticket replaced if needed?
Also, it seems to me that it could be easier to drop or lose than a plastic card that slides neatly into your wallet, especially if it were to get wet.
Any suggestions on carrying these precious passes?

We've had both. I have to say that although the plastic cards are nice to look at, my experiences with the tyvek ones are better. My dh had to have his room key/park pass card replaced twice during one visit. The bar code kept getting messed up. But, since I carry all the APs for my family it's no big deal. I just pop 'em out of the folders, use 'em, and back into the folder they go. I do keep them in a litle plastic baggie that is 'stuck' inside my fanny pack. That way there is no chance they will 'accidentely' pop out.
