Does anyone else call to check on “pieces” of their wait list?

Just wondering if anyone else calls (I do 1 to 3 times a week) to check on individual days on my wait list, or if you do not have “second choice” reservation in place to piece that together. I know it takes up some MS time (I do try to be succinct and typically can get it done in just a few minutes) but with the new system it seams the best way to not get shut out completely.

MS actually advised me to do this...we have a five-day w/l going for BCV or BWV over spring break (altho we'll be perfectly happy at our currently reserved OKW if it doesn't come through)...but MS told us that we really "should" call to snatch any individual days during that five-day period that may come available...

Past experience w/the wait list makes me believe they're correct. Chances of all five of my days opening up at the same time are much less than chances of each day opening up at separate times...and my kids don't mind a split stay, so even if we wind up w/2 days at one of the Epcot resorts and 3 at OKW we'll be fine...

I've called a couple of times so far (no luck), but figure if I'm going to get lucky it'll happen in Feb, just before the 30-day mark when points on a canceled vacation would go into holding...

Anyway...this is the long way around saying that MS advised me to do as Bookwormde is asking about...

I would definitely check on waitlists. My most recent waitlist was sometimes "dropped" and then reinstated. I never understood why it would be cancelled. The CM would tell me that I did not loose my place on the list. This happened a few times. Needless to say, my waitlist never completely came through. I will never trust MS in the future.

What happens if you are able to book one or more dates from your WL? Say, you have a S-TH WL and call and Wed is available. So you book Wed.

Do you get 2 new WLs for S-T and another one for TH? Can you keep the old WL even thou you already have booked one of those days? -- Suzanne

Definitely.......I had a week waitlist for the inlaws. I called almost twice a day and booked a day here and there. Finally was able to get all the days where as if I waited for the waitlist all the days would have to show up at once for it to be booked.....I figured during the F&W at BCV a week waitlist would never come through.

I have been calling every few days to check on mine. I have 6 nights in a savanna studio, then 8 nights in a concierge studio. We want to convert the whole thing to concierge, but I am not switching rooms more than once. Our waitlist is for the whole 6 night block, but I have been calling to see about adding a night at a time backwards from the concierge nights. So far that hasn't worked.

We currently have a couple of wait lists in place and the first and second time that I called to check on status, the wait lists were incorrect.

I really bunches my drawers when Members have to call several times just to get what we paid for. The last Advisor had the nerve to tell me, "I don't see why you are upset, only two were incorrect"! :sad2:
