Does anyone else burn their trash?

We have a burn barrell.
We recycle paper, newspaper, AL cans, tin, plastic.
Burn everything else that is burnable.....and take the rest to the dump.
We go to the dump about once every 4-5 months.

We use to burn trash but it seemed that my DH couldn't keep it in the barrel
he was forever catching the ground on fire ..
oh forgot to mention he is a fireman on top of that .So I decided I'd break down and just pay for trash pickup...

We have a fire pit out back for spring/summer/fall bonfires. We don't burn garbage, just scrap wood and stuff.

My neighbor across the street though burns EVERYTHING she can in her wood stove in her kitchen We finally had to ask her to please stop burning plastic because the smell over at our house... ugh!

Agin the law here. I remember setting the woods on fire behind our house when I was something like 8 (1960) while I was supposed to be watching our burn barrel. Really kewl watching the firefighters racing through the woods. No houses burned.
