Does anyone decorate their room while at a Disney Resort?

I was considering decorating my niece and nephews room when we stay at the GF in May. Is this acceptable? I was thinking about putting up streamers and balloons and maybe some other wall decorations. Do you think the hotel would mind if we used tacks and tape to put up the decorations? If I'm going overboard please tell me. I'm usually not quite this excited about a trip, but I have always wanted to take these two kids (ages - boy 4 and girl 2) to Disney World and I really want to make it special for them. My sister will be 5 months pregnant when we go, so I don't want to inconvenience her too much.

I know I read previous posts on this subject. Since the search function is still off, its difficult to find. But I think I remember folks saying that they did

I know people decorate for Christmas.

I'm unsure about tacks and tape - might do damage? How about some of that real sticky putty type stuff that people use to stick stuff up with (don't know what it is called).

I don't think you should use tacks or tape or anything that might wreck the walls. Instead drape the streamers over the drapery rods and headboards.

The only thing I ever "decorate" with a vase of fresh flowers from the WDW Florist. Personally, I doubt you'd be in the roo long enough for the kids to care, and it wiull only get them more wound up.

Yes - decorate away! We just went with our (almost) 5 year old ds and 3 year old dd, right before Christmas in a boardwalk one bedroom villa. When we checked in, my dh took the kids to the pool, and I put up window clings, a tiny tree with battery-operated lights, and gifts under the tree. I had scanned the disney store and dollar store for weeks before we left, and got great stuff for surprises from "Mickey Mouse" for the kids. They got glow sticks (from the dollar store) which were great after dark, plus we could always see the kids running around epcot, light chasers, coloring sets, stickers, plush mickey mouse snowmen, ornaments, etc... All on sale (except for the light chasers). It was great because the little time in the room seems like an eternity unless the kids have some markers and paper, or something to do. The decorations were such fun, and put us all in a good mood. The window clings stick to mirrors, and don't do damage. Check out your local dollar tree store. Plus goodies - they often have disney merchandise, and the disney store has sales all the time. I will definitely do the same again, since we plan on going again before christmas some year. I even had mickey mouse mugs for me and hubby, for our coffee in the morning. I liked that we not only spent much less on souvenirs, but it was more convenient than spending time in souvenir shops at the parks (we still got one or two things, but really spent little time shopping which works better for small children). Have a great time!

My sisters and nephews were meeting me down @ WDW and it happened to be during one sister's birthday. I had brought streamers and balloons and decorated the room the morning they arrived. She thought it was great and the kids had a blast!

When I was at WDW last week, we stayed at the ASMo. Someone a couple doors down had decorated their windows with some Disney window cling decorations.

I have decorated during holidays, birthdays, etc. I never used tape or tacks or anything that would do damage to walls, etc. I have bought Disney "cling things" that I use on windows, mirrrors, etc. I have also used streamers by just draping them over furniture. I think it is a nice idea. Have fun!!!

I love to see the decorations in the windows of the rooms. The All Star resorts seem to have the most. I have seen window clings, stacked mugs, and stuffed animals. It is really fun to walk by and see all the creative guests.

absolutely decorate. In december it was my sister's b-day we had streamers, balloons, and b-day banner. It was the cr tower so I used tape, but the top of the room was a boarder around it and taped under that no paint came off, we took it down and then hung up garland. Also had garland on the rail for the balcony, for x-mas. We also decorate the door, had a gaint red x-mas ribbon, and everytime we were by the door someone made a great comment. also put the sleigh bells on the door knob! Its a great way to decorate, and have fun! Took only a couple of minutes and didn't really cost anything, got it at the walmart, in kissmemee. MKY

Yes, we decorate. We go in October and December each year. In October we visit for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. So I put Disney Halloween Clings on the windows and on the table in the room we have a Disney Pooh and Friends Halloween tree. In December we place a Berry Wreath the shape of Mickey's Head in the window of the room along with holiday Mickey and Minnie. We put a small Disney Christmas tree with Mickey and friends ornaments, lights and Mickey icon tree skirt.

We stay at the All Stars and yes, during the holidays people go all out with the window decorations. Really fun to see the windows decorated with lights, balloons, stuffed animals, garland, ect.

Easy to find your room to have a long day at the parks!

We decorate at Christmas - bring our own tree and lights. Make sure you don't interfere with the fire sprinklers or smoke detector in the room.
