Does anyone decorate their house for Halloween

I'm with Paula_Jane on this one, in fact reading your list it sounds like we've got most of the same stuff, have you seen the inflatable coffin/skeleton drinks coolers on Ebay ? perfect for apple bobbing I thought and then my sister tells me 'it's not allowed anymore'
I love decorating the house for Halloween, I start scanning Ebay at the beginning of September for new or unusual items and as we're having a party this year I've splashed out on a Maleficent costume for me too.
On top of my kitchen cupboards are cereal box tombstones that me and the kids are making for the front garden and we've been using some of the epitaphs from Boot Hill to decorate them.
Best of all I get to play "It's Hal-lo-ween-lo-ween" CD over and over again :woohoo:

I refuse to give trick or treaters money, little kids love getting sweets & goodies, although I think the teenage callers in a 99p mask get a bit disappointed :confused3

hi New to this board - I'm usually on the DLRP board

Since having children I've started to get more into halloween. I've been at WDW twice for halloween and the Amercian's really love it.

We put up various decorations but as I have 2 toddlers this will be our first year for pumkins and I can't wait.

I sell Usborne childrens books and they do a great Halloween activity book. This will be coming out in a few days to see what we can make & do.

I'm having a few friends round on the 27th for something else but decided to make it a halloween theme as tesco were selling some great stuff so felt inspired!

Will definitely be doing something spooky with the family on the 31st.

We have a very long drive and very big dog so we NEVER get trick or treaters! :rotfl2:

oohh can't wait now! :cheer2:

Jan ~ How can you have a name like Spook ~ and not like Hallowe'en ?? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I hadn't thought of that. Maybe because I pinched the name from someone I know when I had to re-register as my DDs said all my suggestions for a name still sounded like a porn star :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I love love love Halloween :stir:

We carve about 20 pumpkins, fill them with black and orange tealights and put them on the grass and the path at the front of the house.

All our windows have scene setters on them, like ghosts, bats etc.

We have tons of scene setters inside, like mummy's bashing through doors, ghosts and ghouls etc.

Red and orange lightbulbs.

A giant spider web that covers the ceiling with loads of spiders on it.

A moving arm that crawls on the floor and a rolling eyeball that plays the adams family tune.

We have a haunted mansion sign out the front, and a door bell ringer that cackles and says ghostly things.

We have rats on the front path.

We have a bowl filled with sweets that grabs your hand when you go near it.

We all dress up and the children have parties for their friends, boys on one day, girls on the other, we play games, eat lot's of food and have a great time.

Basically, everything in Asda for Halloween is in my house!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I must remember to dig out the photo's from last year and do the same for this year and post them on here for you to see.

WOW...this sounds fantastic.....I would love to see the photos!!!!!

we have a holloween party everyyear, im a childminder so theres always masses of kids, basically its open house, and we sometimes do fireworks, last year we split the kids into two teams and did dress the mummy, our willing (not so) subjects were my hubby and my cousins hubby, and the kids had cheap loo rools and kitchen towel and we had a prize for the best team, we also had a pumpkin pinyata, and blood finger rools(hot dogs and tom sauce), and the kids lovedit, in sainsburys they do these smartie orange pumpkins, there sooo sweet (basically a big kid i know)

:)

i cant help it i just love events, were same at xmas, our house is so lit up im suprised the neighbours dont complain x
Was thinking of getting a christmas ticker. x

We have quite a few halloween decorations, l've been acquiring a few more each year. Last year we bought a witch pinata, which we hung up with thin wire and it made it look as if the witch was flying. I've still got it for this year as it seemed too good to knock to bits.

Last year l made a severed arm dessert (sounds lovely doesn't it). It basically was a blamanche which l poured into a rubber glove (new l hasten to add!!) to set. Had to let it set standing up in a cutaway 2 litre fizzy drinks bottle and place in the fridge over night. You carefully cut the rubber glove away once it is set. It doesn't matter if you sever a finger doing this, (a finger of the dessert that is not your own ) :rotfl: :rotfl: It also contained a long piece of swiss roll (that was the bone), and to finish l had raspberry sauce oozing out of it (the blood) and flaked almonds for finger nails. Lovely!! :teeth:

Forgot to add earlier that you add some of those thin red licuorice laces for veins!! before the blamanche sets, leave them hanging out of the "arm". Gruesome!!

Love the severed arm dessert - gruesome !

I've got dress the mummy down for one of our party games, any other ideas for games much appreciated - kids aged 7/8 and 40 (thats me)

Anyone any photos Please :thumbsup2

Love the sound of the severed arm desert - far too complicated for me - I got lost at making the blamanche bit! :rotfl:

We used to play the "body parts" game....where you conceal things in boxes and people have to stick their hands in and guess what body part it is.
we had things like cold tubular pasta (intestines), a slab of jelly (liver), grapes (eyeballs) etc etc.
