Does anybody elses cat do this?

One of my cats is obsessed with rubber bands. He constantly steals the ones DD uses in her hair. And he loves the ones that come off the newspaper. It's not unusual to see him walking around with a big loop sticking out of his mouth.

The other cat was rescued as a kitten. He'd been found in the middle of a highway. I expect he'd had to scavenge to get by. He steals things and hides them, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to what he takes. Just anything that appeals to him. I've caught him running off with the strangest things, like one of my scrapbooking pens, jewelry, my DH's passport, etc. :confused3

But as far as I can see, socks are not one of the things either of my cats goes for.

oh no - I hope you know this - but you really have to keep the rubber bands away from them -we keep a small ziploc bag of them - but the rest go straight in the trash!!!!

DD like Littlest pets - but they come packed with the tiniest most annoying rubber bands - we have to be very careful undoing them so we catch all the rubber bands!

Yes, we know. DD doesn't always put her hair bands away like she should and he checks for them to be left behind. The ones off the newspaper have to go in a deep trash can or he retrieves them.

I'm constantly taking them away from him, but he still comes up with them all the time. At least he never seems to want to chew them up or swallow them. He just carries them in his teeth. He's eight years old and has had this obsession all his life, so chances are it won't be his demise.

I have a new kitten, so we are all experiencing all the new delights that life has to offer! So far we love to take showers! YES, my kitten takes showers with me...:lmao: Not sure why, but she is not afraid of water, actually she has quite a fasination with it! she loves to play in the sink and actually does cannonballs from the kitchen counter into the waterbowl! :rotfl2: Yes, it is a sight to see!

She also loves to shred ANYTHING used tissues, toilet paper, whatever she can find. Christmas was a challenge this year!!! I had to rewrap several presents, several times... :rolleyes1 My boyfriends son has a racetrack that he got from SANTA and she loves attacking the cars as they wizz by! The kitten and dog communicate I swear and come up with things to do together! I actually think they help each other out sometimes!!!! They are both thieves and I find so many things under my bed like socks, underwear, toys, ribbon, string, paper, Whatever they can get their little paws on... :rotfl:

Does he meow when he does this?

My late cat Layla used to walk around with a yarn ball in her mouth and meow for me- with the ball in her mouth! She'd leave the ball on my bed, and in different places in the house.

Sasha, one of my current cats, does this with toy mice and paper balls.

I think its some kind of hunting instinct, and they are bringing you their "kill" as a present.

Well if he wants me to praise him for his kill he should wait until I wake up:rotfl: . I got up this morning and found 2 socks at the foot of the stairs when I came down and 1 in the dining room. Yesterday I found DH's sweater (which was on the drying rack) 1/2 way up the basement steps (I guess he got tired).

I grew up in a area with lots of clothes lines, well our cat would deliver socks to our front door on a daily basis.

So his name changed to SOX.

:rotfl: We find hair ties in the cats food bowls several times a week. We are not the ones putting them there.

Yep. We had a laundry "CATddict."

Sweaters, socks, underwear, the blanket off the back of the sofa ... if it was accessible, she'd drag them around the house.

She once deposited an orange Victoria Secret cotton bra in the middle of the living room floor. During a get-together. :scared: Don't know which was harder to explain ... WHY I actually owned an orange bra or why my cat dragged it in there...

Mine does this too. She takes the rubber band from the newspaper and carry it up and down the steps and makes this weird meow sound. She does this with string as well.

She also takes food out of her bowl, slides it across the floor and then eats it. She loves for us to slide an ice cube across the floor, except she doesn't eat that.

My family has a business. We have a cat that lives (rules) one of the warehouses and its offices. Everywhere it finds rubber bands, it picks them up and carries them to its food dish.
Whenever anyone is out of rubber bands, they go to the cat's dish! :lmao:

...we thought she was the only cat that did this. Kinda disappointed to find out she's not AS special as we thought. (But happy to know she's not the weirdo I accuse her of being!)
