Does any one else not care for AK?

We loved the Maharaja Jungle Trek and thought the theming was better than a lot of zoos. It seems like some of the walkways are narrower than the other parks thus harder to navigate. I'm going to be on the lookout for DeVine this trip, after we see the Yeti!!

Something I noticed on our trip last month was the uneven pavement in AK. I wore my airwalks and several times the uneven pavement tripped me up. AK is my least favorite park, but I still enjoy it. Epcot is my favorite.

It is an absolutley beautiful park, but for some reason can't handle the crowds well. We go during off times and it always seems congested-I have to agree about the strollers-almost as bad as Toon Town!! Maybe the paths are to narrow, too many dead ends. We don't really go for the animals-we have an awesome zoo here, but I consider it a half day park and not sure if we will go to it this time.

We love AK and no WDW trip would be complete without a visit.

If you get too hot, just go on Kali..! :rotfl2:

AK is my fave park, I love it!! I think I am the only one that does not find it the hottest. Though I don't go in the summer. I usually go in Sept or May and find plenty of shade at the AK with all the trees. Yeah, the park is huge but the walking never bothers me as I love the whole atmosphere of the park.

I love AK. The shows, the ride and the anamils are all great. the one thing I do not care for is the theaming in Africa....it looks way to dirty for me. I'm sure they do that because that is the way it really looks in Africa, but I just don't like seeing it.

I love AK and would much rather go there than MGM, if I had to choose. So many little things to look at if you slow down and poke around into corners. I love animals and nature and I totally enjoy AK. It never gets boring for me, but I totally understand the folks that can take it or leave it.

I like AK, but agree with you on one point...For some reason it always seems to be hotter there than any other park... :confused3

...and I'm diggin' the Green Day and A7X in your sig.. :thumbsup2

I must be the only one that never got wet on Kali. That has to be the most boring ride, next to Test Track, that Disney has. The entire family was dry when we got off.

I love DAK. I agree that it somehow feels hotter there than everywhere else. I also wish the park had a couple more major attractions.

If you are only into rides, I can see how DAK would let you down a little. It has a few great rides, but they are spaced out and there aren't enough of them.

Where DAK really shines is its atmosphere. If you can force yourself to slow down and soak in all the animal exhibits and trails, there is really a lot to see and take in.

I don't really think Animal Kingdom is that great, but that might be because for some reason we never got out of dinoland and asia :confused3 every way we went we always ended up in asia or dinoland so that didn't help lol.

Also the primeval whirl ride broke down when we went back at the fast pass time and was out for about 2 hours so that made it drag on aswell :guilty:.

My family (Me33, DH37, DD5, DS3) loves Animal Kingdom. We spent an entire day and a half day there our last trip and didn't do nearly everything. The kids love all the characters and could spend hours in the Boneyard. I'm a zookeeper so I absolutely love the safari and the animal trails. During the off season it is very relaxing. We last went in January so heat was no issue as we were all wearing jackets.

Our previous trip was during a spring break week in April and by shortly after noon the crowds were almost unbearable, so I can certainly understand those who don't like it for that reason. I totally don't get the whole "half-day" not enough to do there thing! In Jan we had no real waits for ANYTHING and still didn't do Pocahontas, Dinosaur, Primevil Whirl, Kali (too cold) or Flights of Wonder. EE was not open yet...

I could have happily spent another day there but my (little) kids chose to go back to Epcot instead!

I like AK, though I think EPCOT is my favorite park. What I like about AK is that it is a "relax and enjoy" type place, no rushing from ride to ride. Take your time to look around, smell the roses (or in the case of AK ginger and jasamine), my favorite things are the walking trails, safari and FOTLK. I'd like to see Dinoland expanded with a few more "Infotainment" options...and I hope they do expand on the Beastly Kingdom idea someday.

Can I sit next to you next time? Every time I go on Kali I look like I'm fresh out of the shower afterwards. No joke, I am totally soaked every time, to the point where I even have to wring out my underwear... :rotfl2:

We LOVE AK. MK is our absolute favorite but the dd's are 5 & soon to be 10. AK is next to MK for us. Our kids love KS and just the experience, when we're at AK we really don't get that many rides in but we spend most of the day there and visit several times throughout our stay.

AK is an Imagineering masterpiece overlooked and misunderstood by many (in my personal opinion)... It is not all about the ride, but the overall experience....

Nah, We all love AK over..granted it's not our favorite park..I like MK most & the kids & DH like EPCOT best. However we do spend 1 day there each trip & we have always had fun. Always follow a day at AK with a nice dinner at Boma's over at AKL.

My kids don't enjoy AK at all so we've only been there a couple times. I'm the only one who liked Dinosaur--even DH said it was too loud for him, which is unusual. I've got two who don't like any bugs/spiders/etc (ok, and me too) so ITTBAB is completely out--once was definitely enough! And it is terribly warm & humid no matter when you go, mainly due to all the vegetation.

Having said that, it's worth seeing at least once because Disney did do an incredible job in the theming. Plus, it's Disney! But DH & I are spoiled on many years of the San Diego Zoo & Wild Animal Park while growing up, so we're very biased.

The park has grown on me. I wasn't too thrilled the first time I went. Then, from these boards, I noticed that I really missed a lot. This park is meant to be taken at a slower pace. If you only want to see the rides, you will be finished in a few hours.

We too love Animal Kingdom. Of course, like many others, our favorite park is Magic Kingdom. Animal Kingdom and EPCOT are a close 2nd and 3rd. MGM is our least favorite but we would never miss a chance to go. That is why we take at least 6 day trips because I can't imagine going to Disney World and not seeing all four parks and Downtown Disney. I love the atmosphere in all of them!! :cloud9:
