I jsut got back. Normally, I dont go to AK. Since Everest had opened though, I had to go. I have been to DWD around 11 times, and that was only my 3rd time in AK. I didn't relize how much I hated the place till I went back. I know I'm being a lil whiney but heres some of my reasons:

The size. The park itself is soooo freakin huge,it takes for ever to get from one place to another. It's like you just keep walking and walking and walking.

The heat. In all three times that I've goneto AK it has always been really hot. And othere people that have been there agree. It might not be very hot in other parks, but it always seems to be in AK.

The tight spaces. Even though AK is Disney's largest park. I think its the most crowded, and not just with people, but trees, and strolers, and other stuff like that. I know that it's an animal freindly park, but theres just waaay too many trees. It makes the park seem so crowded. And you most of the attractions you cant see unless your like 5 yards infront of them, because all the trees are in the way. Wich makes it twice as ahrd to get lost.

The Tree of Life. Its a really cool structure. But one thing doesnt make sence to me. The Tree of Life is the AK logo, right? So why can't you see it from any where??? The only time you can see it is when you're near it. You can see Cinderella's Castle from just about anywhere in MK, you can see Spaceship Earth from just about anywhere in Epcot, and you can see both the water tower and the hat from just about anywhere in MGM.

The stolers. Is it just me, or does AK always seem to have strollers just sitting in random places? I never notice this in any of the other parks :confused3 .

Now don't get me wrong. I think all of AK's attractions are great. Everest is so awsome, and I love Dinasour. But I just hate to go to AK because I'm all wore out after I've been in there for about 10 minutes. I don't think Ak's problem is that there isn't enough attractions, I think it's problem is jsut the ways it's set up. I know the Imagineers have put soo much work into the park, but really i think if they would just adjust it's lay out and some of the other stuff a bit, it would be alot better.

I know I'm being a lil picky, but thats how I see it. Any comments?

We feel Animal Kingdom is the best of the four. That's mainly because it is about the experience, not just about going on a bunch of amusement park rides.

How can anyone not like Animal Kingdom. I don't get what all of those people are thinking!

To keep the African them in AK, the imagineers actually pump Heat into the Park, that is why it feels Hotter. :confused3

And I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale! :lmao:

Out of the four parks, I like AK the least as well. :)

I hate to admit it but AK is my least favorite as well. I love the safari but a few of the rides but it is hot and we usually only go for a few hours in the AM. I can't wait to go again this summer and ride EE and also go see It's a Bug's Life.

AK is not my fav (MK being my favorite) but not the least fav (that being MGM for me). I do admit AK is HUGE and lots of walking but the shows, rides, etc... are very unique. I can't wait to go back in November cause we missed a couple things! Expedition Everest was just starting to let people ride it and I swear (my husband too!) that the animatronic Yeti was not yet in the ride when we went on it!!!

Anyway, everyone has their likes and dislikes -- if AK not your bag then there are other places to go ... but for me, I don't want to miss it! (Plus the chocolate cake at Tusker House is to die for!) -- :teeth:

Really weird, my first response didn't post -- then it double-posted! Sorry!

I completely agree and so does the rest of my family.

I think that if you want amusement park rides then yes you will be disappointed with AK. I agree 100% that it is about the experience. I really enjoy walking through the park and taking it all in. I love animals, so I can stop and just watch for a long time. Also, taking in the design of the park, the flora and fauna is beautiful. All the different types of birds, I could just go on and on.

What I love about AK is that it is not a zoo nor an amusement park, but a blending of the two, and a wonderful educational experience.

DH and I don't care for it much either. We appreciate the brilliance of the theming, but it is huge and hot and there's not much to occupy us. We like Donald's Breakfast, Dinosaur, Safari, and EE. We loved Tarzan too but it's gone now. And DH likes the Maharajah Jungle Trek to get pictures of the tigers. We do everything in half a day. In April, we did the Breakfast, EE, Safari, Jungle Trek, EE with FP, and Dinosaur in that order and was leaving the park by noon. We just do the things we like and then head out. Again, it is themed wonderfully and is a beautiful park. But it just doesn't have the same feel that we are looking for.

I couldn't have said it better. We love AK and feel that it is the ultimate "stop and smell the roses"-type of place.

AK is one of my favorite parks. I love looking at the Tree of Life. I like all the trees and find it (yet usually very hot) very relaxing to walk around.

Sorry to disagree, we love AK but we will agree that its definitely hot there. (or it could be we always go to Florida in August. :rotfl2: ) I will agree with the previous poster that alot of the appeal is in the experience not just the rides. I also think they have some of the coolest shows (festival of the Lion King, Tarzan rocks) They also have some really cool performers walking around the park. Has anyone checked out "Devine", the lady who walks around looking exactly like a tree vine?

For me Ak is 3rd on my list. MGM is my least fav. park. I could never go there again and I wouldn't miss anything. But I have to do AK at least once during a trip!!

Everyone has different opinions...
I hated AK when it first opened. I wanted to head over to the good stuff.. THE MK!!! But over the years... I changed and so did my preferences.
This is the order that I rate the parks to my liking :)
EPCOT My absoulte favorite!
MK
AK
Dis Studios

There are things I don't like about AK. The fact that you have to walk almost backwards to get forwards! You know what I mean?? It's wierd, but it seems like you have to go through alot of pathways and things to move forward. But even with that, I still love AK. We went on a private safari in AK through the concierge, that was awesome!

AK is our least liked park. At first we didn't like it at all but gave it another chance. We are not looking for an amusement type park but thought the AK still lacked in some kind of theming. I can't put my finger on it but it seems they could have done so much more with that park then they did. Like they ran out of money and never finished it. Now it has grown on us a bit so we make sure to go to it on our October trips. There is no way we would be able to deal with they summer heat at that park. While I don't hate the place anymore I still am not overwhelmed by it. The other parks are liked more by us.

I admit AK isn't my favorite park but I still wouldn't miss it. There is so much to see and experience there. Just wish it wasn't so darn hot. :faint:

Of the four, it's my third favorite, with Epcot being last by a wide margin. (I just don't get epcot. To each his own, I guess.)

But even though it's third on the list, I still really like it. I think the Unofficial Guide has perhaps the best explanation of how it differs from the other parks that I have read, and gives a good explanation of how to truly enjoy it. I won't try to repeat it here, but I thought it was very thoughtful.
