So I made our spring 2016 resort RO ressie yesterday morning and put the 1 night deposit down, etc. The trip will be myself, DD7, my dad, and a friend, so 3 adults and 1 child. The problem is my friend is flying down with us but only staying the first 3 nights then she's flying home. Myself, DD, and my dad are staying 7 nights. When I made the initial ressie, I just listed 3 adults and one child, not thinking or really taking into consideration that it will only be 3 adults for 3 nights and 2 adults for the remaining 4 nights. So I went back on the Disney website to just see what the total cost was for the same ressie with 2 adults instead of 3 and it's an $826.84 diiference  That's significant, like a whole other room at a value resort for a week difference. Dividing that by 7 nights and it's $118.12 additional per night for that 3rd adult. I knew there was an extra charge for each adult, after the inital 2, but seriously had no idea it was $118.12 a night more :scared: is that what the extra adult fee normally is?

So my question is do I cancel my initial ressie and rebook with 3 adults and 1 child for 3 nights and then make another separate RO ressie for 2 adults and 1 child for 4 nights? I thought about just making one ressie for 2 adults for the full stay and add her on for 3 nights at checkin but then realized my friend wouldn't be able to utilize DME with us because her name wouldn't be on the reservation until checkin. I don't mind paying the extra adult fee for 3 nights but definitely do not want to shell out $826.84 extra just so all of us can use DME on our respective arrival and departure days

What's the best way to handle this issue?
:thanks:

That doesn't sound right at all. There has to be an error somewhere. Double check that you didn't have tickets or dining added somewhere. Or even a different room type selected. There is no way you are comparing apples to apples. Lol

Thanks smitch for prompting me to re-work my numbers :thumbsup2 According to the Disney website, the total original 3adult/1child RO ressie I made yesterday is $5323.50 but when I used 2adults/1child this morning (on my phone, which is probably the whole problem), it came up $4,496.66 :confused3
It was definitely user/phone error because I just plugged all the info in again on my PC and now theres a $196.84 difference, which is $28.12 per xtra adult per day. That sounds more what I was thinking it should be and I'm much happier with that number ::yes:: The $826.84 from this morning made me want to breath into a paper bag while laying in the fetal position on the floor :rotfl2:

When I checkin at the resort, can I inform the front desk, before I pay off the remaining balance, that my friend will only be there for 3 nights and get a $112.48 adjustment on the final balance?
:thanks:

Not sure if they will remove the fee without a penalty, but they should be able to let you know if you call.

I agree with the pp to double check your reservation to make sure it is indeed booked as RO and not a package as something is definitely wrong if it's over $800 more for just the room. The resort category determines the extra adult charge, so depending on what you booked, the extra charge would be $25/nt deluxe; $15/nt moderate; $10/nt value. So the most it would be is $175 + tax if you booked deluxe and she was listed for all 7 nights.

Glad you figured it out :thumbsup2.

Since it's a room-only reservation could you split it into 2 reservations? My guess is that Disney won't remove her from the reservation once she checks in and you'll have to pay for her on the days she's not there. Perhaps you can ask that specific question on the board.

Yes, you can inform the check-in CM of the adjustment. There should be no fee for the change. If your friend is using DME, be sure to have the Disney CM handle your friend's DME departure info at check-in, too.
