thinking of which 2 parks for midday in Aug - because AK closes earlier Im thinking of using at least 1 of our middays
will have 4 mornings - 1 for ea park and about 8nights for the parks

where would you head midday? (besides the obvious - pools) or maybe just head to AK later in the day 3-6ish?

The Lion King show is now enclosed and has a/c!! We haven't been since this was done but since the performers were doing so many shows a day, in that nasty heat/humidity they rehabbed it. That would make a nice respite in your day.

From everything I read, Animal Kingdom is a good place to go in the midday sun. I think it has to do with all of the vegetation while you are outside as opposed to the concrete at the other parks.

Actually, it's the WORST place you can be!!!!

While there is vegetation covering the concrete, and shielding the sun, the walkways are MUCH narrower than the other parks. When the crowds are up, the heat can be awful Not to mention, there IS a lack of air conditioned shows and attractions. The ones that I can think of that have AC:

It's Tough To Be A Bug
Legend of the Lion King
Dinosaur
Kali (I consider water a natural form of AC... :) )

I'm not sure if the shops have AC - I'm sure they do.

My money for midday sun spots to stay would Epcot. It's a huge park, so the crowds spread out, and there is air conditioning every which way you turn.

Just my $.02

I have to agree this one is bad in the midday- we always go early and leave right after lunch. The crowds get huge around lunchtime. Most things are outside so it is HOT! Lots of walking as it is a spread out style park- you do alot of backtracking. But there are some airconditioned things- Dinosaur, Tough to be a bug- Kali River Rapids is a good place to cool down. I am excited to hear that the a/c'd the Lion King show- we died one July when we went- we had to leave it was hot and I could not help but feel so bad for those performers.

I agree as to the heat index in AK...it's brutal after 11 or so in there!!!! If there is any breeze whatsoever in the other parks, there isn't any in AK. That great amount of vegetation prohibits the breeze from swishing around in there. It gets so stagnent and still. We don't even visit AK in the summer months for more than 2 hrs. or so.

Festival of the Lion King is sooo much better now! It was a very pleasant surprise! (too bad we were soaked from Kali River Rapids so I actually wound up freezing!) ::MickeyMo
