Does a new day begin at 12 am for check-in?

Heck, I had a split stay, same resort, and did online check-in, and my MB stopped working before we checked out.

Checking out, your room becomes available to mousekeeping and your MB will stop working. I wouldn't do this.

We have never had our MB stop working or housekeeping clean our room before we clear the room (always before 11AM). If we receive our receipt via email we will not even go to the main desk for checkout. In addition to leaving a "do not disturb" sign on the door we also leave jackets, backpacks or sweatshirts on the bed so that housekeeping is aware we have not yet cleared the room. If we happen to see housekeeping we will let them know we will be clearing the room no later than 11AM. We, personally, have always had good luck with this.

I am surprised that works and never thought of it. I figured that mousekeeping was all electronic and that they would automatically see the room in their system as empty as soon as I technically "check out" That would definitely give us a room or place to change longer.

If you are set up for express check out (meaning you have a cc on file for any outstanding balance) you don't have to "check out". Your room keys will work until 11:00 and then stop. I can't remember the last time I went to the front desk to check out . . .maybe the early 80's when I was paying cash for the room?? We have gone to breakfast, hit a park, come back to retrieve the suitcases just before 11:00, and had no issues. We do leave the Privacy Please sign on the door. Just make sure you keep an eye on the time . . .

We always have a credit card on file and never go down to the desk to checkout anymore either. However, I was not aware that I had to be checked out of one room before I could be put on the check-in list for another. I would like to get my Copper room as early as possible so if checking out of the room we are in will speed that along then I guess that will be our plan. I really don't understand why we have to be checked out of our first reservation-I'm sure people reserve additional rooms for friends/family in their name and utilize both rooms at the same time. Has anyone done a split stay like this from Boulder to Copper?

Actually Disney frowns on having your name on more than one room. And have been known in the past to cancel one or both of them if they run across it.
