Does a MB have to be Fingerprint Scanned to work for FP+?

This may be a strange question, but this upcoming trip my mom and DH are swapping out mid-week, DS and I will be there the whole week. Because we're going during a peak time and since the cost was only slightly more for a 5 day hopper than a 3 day, I got 5 days for everyone so as not to miss out on getting FP+ for DS and I every day. I am hoping I can use the not-present member's bands for extra FP+ for my DH to ride a few more thrill rides or for my Mom to get to go on Soarin on the day where we are hopping from Epcot to HS. Will Mom's MB work at the FP+ turnstiles even though she won't get to fingerprint scan it until mid-week? We all have old MBs from our last trip but our last trip isn't showing up in their system anymore even though it was only a year ago, so I'm not confident those would work even though they should be linked to the same account.

3. They will still be registered to you and will not work for "extra/additional" anything
for guests who were/are on both trips.
Those old MBs can still be used interchangeably with your new MBs.

Thanks Robo. What I meant by extra was the my DH could wear Mom's MB on a day she won't be at the park, and use the FP+s that are assigned to her for that day. I can't ride coasters but this way he can.

Yep, you can do that. We did it with our 4 year old who couldn't ride the bigger rides. We swapped MB's to use his FP. No finger scans for FP.

If I'm reading this correctly, you want to use fast passes made for you mother on a day you mother does not enter the park. This will not work. Anyone can use someone else's FP, but the magic band has to have scanned as entering the park.

Not to get into a debate over right or wrong or trying to provide a way to "scam" the system but they do not need to be scanned.

My friend (after MUCH debate) did not go with me on my last trip earlier this month. We had already bought the ticket and I used her MB for pre booked FP+ but never used a ticket day at the enterance.

Scamming the system was not my original intent when making this plan, but my options since we are booking a package and have to have the same number of days for each person's tickets, were book 3 day tickets for everyone or book 5 day tickets for everyone. Since we are going on one of the 2 peak weeks of the year I opted to pay extra for the 5 day so that we wouldn't miss out on FP+ for rides at DHS and our second day at MK. If we were going in a slower season I would have booked 3 then just added 2 for my son and I when we got to our first park. Given that we are paying for tickets we won't be using, we are effectively paying a premium for the extra FP+ we want to use. This is certainly not a loophole I would recommend as it's not exactly cheap, and I'm not 100% confident it will even work. We'll see!

It's not scamming at all since you paid for the tickets and are entitled to the fast passes. I think you may need to have the bands scanned at the entrance though. That's the way it used to work with the old fps. You can always go back to the entrance and scan the band if you need to...

You DO NOT have to scan magic bands at the entrance for the fp+ entitlements to work. I can't tell you the number of times we have done this.

Yes, with the old tickets you DID have to have them scanned at the entrance to get fast passes.

With magic bands, you DO NOT.

OP, your plan will work.

I have done this with unused tickets assigned to my boys' magic bands, partially used tickets assigned to my boys' magic bands (they had to go home early) and APs assigned to my wife's and my boys' magic bands. As long as there is a valid ticket assigned to the magic band MDE account, you can use it to secure and use FP+ without using the tickets to enter the park. I did this as recently as September. Will be doing it again in November for a quick 3 day trip with just the wife.

We were there in the beginning of October. My husband has an AP and was only with us for part of the trip. My daughter used his magic band for RnR and he wasn't even in the state! Actually, we were able to use his band before he even activated his annual pass on a previous trip- I had my doubts, but it worked!
