If not, can you rent a fridge?

Thanks for any help.

According to the official WDW website, there is a minibar in a standard guest room:

Guest Rooms (Standard):

These rooms feature two queen-size beds, one day bed, table and chairs, ceiling fan, vanity area with two sinks, and bath. Most Guest Rooms offer private balcony. Many Guest Rooms feature garden or water views. Non-smoking rooms and rooms for Guests with disabilities are available.

Guest Room amenities include in-room safe, voice mail, phone in bath area, robes, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and minibar. A limited number of refrigerators and microwaves are available on request.

Yes, there is a minibar in ever GF room except the concierge rooms. But it's not really for use as a fidge. The way they are set up there's even less room than in a cube fridge. Plus if you remove items they do have the right to charge you for them. If you needed a few inches to squeeze in a bottle of medication, no problem. but I wouldn't advise clearing out the entire thing to store your personal food in it.

BTW--if you are under 21, they will not give you the key. And if you want to be sure to not get charged for anything or don't trust yourself to not go on a midnight candy raid, you can decline the key at check-in :) . Of course the midnight candy raid is one of the best parts about staying in a room with a minibar. :)

Thanks, I could not remember! We're going down for the Mission:Space preview, and the thought of not having a cold drink in the room in August made me shudder.

I don't know about the concierge rooms in the main building but those in Sugar Loaf have minibars as well.

In all 4 of our non-concierge visits we have had a stocked mini-fridge, as well as an empty "dorm" fridge free of charge. At least once, if not twice, the fridge was there when we arrived. The other two times we just requested one and housekeeping brought it up.

Though I don't know that it is official that the mini-fridges are comped at GF, most people report that they have not been charged.

Oops forgot that part...Snurk is right. The little refrigerators are available at no charge at the GF. Used to be true at the other resorts years ago.

Ducklite, we had minibars in our concierge rooms and also our suites (each bedroom had a minibar but the parlor rooms did not -- they had their own empty refrigerator plus a same-sized ice machine sitting under the counter of the wet bar). We'll be in the main building on our next vacation, so I'll let you know if our room still contains a minibar. I'm curious now based upon what you stated.

I wonder if we didn't have a minibar because the room was handicapped accessible (not that that makes any sense) or maybe because that large party was leaving they had taken the minibars out of some of the rooms occupied by those people. They had definitely taken furniture out of many of the rooms--we saw them moving around beds, chairs, all sorts of things--and hadn't replaced it yet--which makes more sense.

Ducklite, maybe you're onto something. The "large" party wasn't by any chance royalty from the Middle East that we have read about here on the Dis over the years; the folks who rent out rooms/floors at the GF for weeks/months at a time? ;)

I took a look at the official WDW website. They don't have a concierge room floor plan listed, per se, but when I clicked on the link for a suite (currently concierge by default), the verbiage stated minibar. Again, I will let you know what I find in my room during my upcoming vacation.

That would be the one.

Janet when are you going to the Grand again??

Cris, we'll be there in October. I am a little concerned since my last GF stay had some issues. I am really hoping that things have improved within the last year or two. I know that some folks have posted recently that they have had nice stays, so hope springs eternal. The GF is a beautiful resort and I am trying to concentrate on that aspect of it. I plan on doing nothing but hanging out by the pool during my stay there (I've already told my husband & daughter that they can hang with me or do whatever it is that they want to do, it won't bother me in the least, as I desperately need a relaxing vacation after having survived three years of constant layoffs at my workplace).

I just got back from main building concierge at the GF (RPC). YES, there is a stocked mini-bar in the room. They will also give you an empty fridge free of charge at your request.
