My husband recently changed jobs. He had a great corporate discount from his previous employer from US cellular. Now we are researching family plans and are shocked at the prices. He can get a 20% discount on Sprint through his new employer....but still seems high.

Any suggestions??

The best we have found is through T-mobile for $79.99 for 1500 minutes and unlimited text. We do pay $5 each for the 3rd and 4th lines. I do not have a contract because I want to be able to leave if I find something better and not have to worry about paying any fees. This also means we have to pay full price for our phones but I have had insurance on the phones so if they got broken than they could be replaced cheap. My son is using a phone a friend gave him now as his was broken and we haven't bothered to replace it as it does not fit his needs now (not good for texting very much).

Is the phone actually through his employer? If its your personal plan, they don't stop the discount just because you don't work there anymore. I left a job 10 years ago and am still getting the employee discount. I talked to my current IT guy about it and he says that is very common. They never check so they never stop the discounts.

We actually got a letter in the mail from our provider that the service will cease on Nov 1st. DH hasn't even been gone for 60 days yet and he was with that employer for 24 years! I guess the current economy has corporations checking on these kinds of things now.

Thanks for the info--we'll check it out. I think we get to keep our phones from our other plan--gotta call them tomorrow and check it out.
