We will be traveling to WDW with our son who is now 18. We usually bring his birth certificate with us. Do we now need a photo ID since he is now 18? Can I get one at MV dept? I just thought of this....yikes we leave in 3 weeks!

::yes::
They will want picture ID.
In most states, you can get an ID for a 'non-driver' from the MV department. Check if they have a website - you can probably print out the application and have it ready to go before going to MV department.

3 weeks should be enough time and if it doesn't get there, you will have the receipt/temporary ID. Does he have a picture school ID or anything that you could pair with that?:hug:

I know that for flying the TSA requirement is "18 or above". And at Disney to get an Annual Pass or Florida Resident Pass the requirement is each person 18 or older must have a photo ID.

If you are flying, he must have an official photo ID (i.e. passport, driver's license, or state-issued ID card) or he will not be able to get his tickets, get into the secure area, and fly.

Go to the DMV and get an ID there - I don't think they cost too much money. You'll have to go look up the requirements he'll need to bring to the DMV with him - could be just his birth certificate or could be that and something else, I don't know. You should make an app't for him before going so you don't have to wait for hours. Make sure he is presentable enough for his picture to be taken for the card (LOL) and you should be in and out of there with his new ID card in a short time. Then you have to lecture him on not losing it. ;)

Noticed you were from NY, my dd has a non driver's ID. YOu have to get it from your local DMV. I usually takes a few weeks to get the photo ID but at the window they will give you a temporary one (just like when you misplace your license:( ). If you have that and a school ID they will accept it. If you have an NYS access pass, that has a picture and should work along with the temporary ID.

I just got an Access Pass for my daughter, it took about 2 weeks (they say 8 - 10 weeks on the form, but it wasn't nearly that long!). You can print the application from here: http://nysparks.state.ny.us/info/accesspass.asp

If it's a physical disability, you can just get a doctor to sign off, but if it's a developmental disability you have to be receiving services through OMRDD.
