Anyone have a Dodge Durango? Any thoughts? DH needs a new car/truck and that's what he is looking at. I haven't heard much good or bad.

Thanks!!

We had one, and I hated it. But if your DH likes trucks, he will like it!

It was a very reliable vehicle, and it does have a lot of room. I just hated the feel of driving it (like driving a truck) and the gas mileage was pretty awful. As soon as we no longer need the capacity (when DS got his drivers license, and we no longer had to ferry the hockey team around) we got rid of it.

My DH has one and really likes it. We've had it almost 5 years and haven't had any problems but he doesn't drive much. I drive it once in awhile, it's nice for hauling stuff or people. I may get one also but will not get the 4X and other things that make his the gas hog that it is.

We are going for a test drive on Monday night.

This we didn't like about it were the....

knee room, steering wheel thing behind it bangs your knees

the driver cabin is curved and it has a closed in feel

Also Durango does not hold value, the resell value is not good.

Try a Tahoe, Trailblazer, Yukon, or Envoy before buying.

2002 dodge durango went from previous year of fair to poor in overall rating. Consumer reports. We wanted to buy one but after reading that we decided on a quad cab truck dodge love it 2003.

I'd check the crash test ratings as well
We had a little girl killed in an auto accident here
a small pick up ran into the back of her mother's durango
she was a passenger in the middle seat and was killed??
It made me think maybe they aren't so safe?

luv2nascar - Was the child in a seat belt? Without a seat belt on correctly a rear end collision would be very bad for a child. I know of one case around here where a child died from a rear end collision that really wasn't that serious but since the child wasn't wearing a seatbelt they were ejected.
