Hi,

We received our documents and I was surprised to learn that
not only do we need birth certificates but since I changed my
name when we got married, we will need to bring the original copy of our marriage llicense. Since my birth certifcate will have my
maiden name I need proof of my name change.

I have placed the marriage license with the other documents but I wonder what would have happened if I didn't know this and came to the cruise ship without it?

Just curious.

Shucks ... We got our documents over a week ago and I did not notice that a marriage license was needed as proof of name change for my wife. Her birth certificate has her maiden name on it also. Guess I need to go back and re-read the cruise documents.

They would probably not allow you to board the ship. All cruise lines are getting much stricter these day. On some of the other boards, there have been stories about people not being allowed to board the ship, because they were missing some required document.

Uh, where did you see this information? DCL does NOT require married women to bring a copy of their marriage license. As long as your first name and dates of birth match on your birth certificate (or passport) and your photo ID you'll be fine.

I have docs for the 12/7 cruise and nowhere does it mention needing a marriage license, nor have I needed one in my past 8 cruises on DCL, including one taken 3 months ago.

Hi WebmasterMichelle,

When I went to pick up my documents from AAA the travel agent
gave me a form letter(from AAA), stating in summary; that if the name on the photo I.D. was not identical to the name on the proof of citzenship document a name change document supporting this change is required, i. e. marriage license.

I'm glad to find out that it is not required. I would bring it, my
concern is that with all the research I've done and reading
the boards I never saw that requirement.

Thanks, I appreciate your help.

Ah, thanks for the clarification ADisneyMom, it was something that AAA gave you and not in the DCL docs, I understand now. :)

Have a great cruise! :)
