My DH had what we thought and still think was just a mole below his knee cap. He went to the derm to get it removed. It was scraped out and biopsyed for routine sake says the derm. We got a letter today saying the biopsy revealed that this lesion showed atypical vascular proliferation with rare mitotic figures. The lesion extends to the deep margin on the biopsy, therefre while it may appear to be removed, microscopically it has not been. A conservative compete excision is highly recommended at this time.
Can anyone please tell me what this all means. I tried to look up atypical vascular proliferation but I have no idea what these sites are talking about. It is not in terms that I can understand.
Any help would be great. We scheduled is appointment for Nov 12. I guess what I am after is, is this cancerous? Is this a bad thing? TIA
