Doctor's Office Vent

Fridays and test results are a deadly combination - no pun intended.. :headache:

It's infuriating when they call and leave a message on the answering machine late Friday afternoon that they have your test results, but don't actually tell you what they are until Monday - or whenever they can fit you in..

I don't balme you one bit for being upset.. I would be aggravated as well - especially since they had numderous numbers where they could have spoken to you directly! :headache:

They called the other day, late in the day of course so I had to call them back the next day. She said I was due for some blood work. She couldn't say that in her message on my machine? Then I told her, "well I already have an appointment set up in 2 weeks." She didn't even know that. Don't they check their computer, to see if someone has an upcoming appointment, before they call someone? I guess not.
In their office? Can you make the appointment FOR the bloodwork, and during the visit just 'happen' to get the results of the thyroid ultrasound at the same time? Will insurance pay for the visit then?

Augh. So annoying. A few weeks ago, I was at the gyno's. My appointment was at 11:20 and I had arrived 15 minutes prior. At 1:15, I still had not been seen. The receptionist told me that the 11:00 still had not been seen and that in order for the rest of the day to flow smoothly, I'd have to reschedule. Well, my prescription for BC was going to be up in several days and I needed a yearly to get a prescription to send to my insurance company. I had to BEG the office to give me a month's supply of my BC-- they made me feel so guilty! When I got home, I was irrate. How dare they tell me I have to leave-- when I have an URGENT appointment??
Some doctor's offices are just ridic. Sorry, OP

And now that there will be ?million more people "covered", just how will the office take care of that?

Wow. I feel really fortunate. My MD's office always tries me at work and then immediately calls my home if I am not at work. Any time I have had a problem my MD has called me personally. He even called me twice just to check on me after I had a hyster.
