I just sprained my back and was wondering if there was anything that I could do to make the trip a little bit easier? I'm not completely useless but my chiropractor said try to avoid stairs and standing for long periods of time. I do not have a doctors note and I'm not really sure what I can do, if anything about it. I totally don't mind if nothing can be done, it would just be nice in case I needed it. hahaha I feel like a big wimp because I can't tie my own shoes! :lmao: Oh well life happens and I will always make the best of it(:

Thank you guys for any information you may have! :D

To get a Guest Assistance Card (GAC) from City Hall, you do not need any type of doctor's note. Simply tell them you'd like a GAC and what your limitations are (prolonged standing, etc.) and they will assist you. They are not allowed to require you to go into detail about or prove your condition.

With prolonged standing being an issue, I would recommend renting a wheelchair or ECV. (I normally suggest trying to avoid them, as they are a pain, but in this case, it might make sense). GACs do not prevent standing, they can generally provide a more comfortable place to wait, but with not being able to do stairs, you will be limited to the wheel chair entrances at some attractions, where the lines can get quite long (sometimes longer than the standby lines). If you can occasionally do stairs, then a GAC might work for you and allow you to be more comfortable than the pains of having a wheelchair or ECV.

Oh thank you guys! That is so helpful and good news! :D I was debating to get a wheelchair (I couldn't do any ECV, I'd probably run someone over :rotfl:) or not and I think I will try walking the first day and see how things go from there. If I rented a wheelchair would I be able to leave it at certain places if I felt like just walking? And I'm fairly certain that it would be very difficult to roam the park with one correct?
Thank you so much!

Well, you could, but also remember that you are responsible for it and it is not unheard of for a wheelchair to get taken. You could put bags on the seat and push it around like a walker if you decided you wanted to walk a bit. I would not suggest parking it at, for example, Jungle Cruise, and walking to Fantasyland and back. It may or may not be there when you return.

I never thought of that, thanks for the heads up! What if I left it at Aventureland roamed that area but not leave then get it? Also would I need to get a GAC everyday or would it work for the entire trip?

I am not sure about the wheelchair situation, but when you first get a GAC they mark it for your entire trip. So you don't need to go back everyday.

I believe if you rent a wheelchair (or a stroller) from the park and it goes missing, you can get a replacement at no cost by showing your receipt. The CMs at the gates won't allow a DL wheelchair to leave the park, so they know it will turn up eventually. If you rent from an outside company and it gets stolen, then you're on the hook for it.
