Doctor Who merchandise at EPCOT?

it's amazing to see a bbc show getting so much love across the pond! yeah, tennant has a kid with that girl. he hadn't long broken up with his very long term girlfriend when he got together with moffett, and then next thing you know, they have a child!
the only thing that annoys me about the current series is the whole 'lets have a 4 month break in the middle of the series.' now i know all you americas are used to this kind of thing (stargate atlantis had one, south park had one..) but it's not common practice in the uk! stop it now you silly bbc types.
still, i prefer tennant to smith. i'm still getting used to him. i don't think anything can beat the doctor/rose 'relationship', and i'm glad we finally know who river song is! yay.
oh, and i don't know whether any of you know, but the lady who played sarah jane, elizabeth sladen actually died in april of this year. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0805207/
still, i don't think you'll get who stuff in the disney parks. the bbc would never be able to market it in such a way; they simply lack the funds.
although , i did like going around the british shop and pub and seeing how you guys portray us. you had everything, just i was a bit confused by the rowntrees fruit pastles. i've never seen them in a box before. lol.

i was so confused when Wikipedia reported that Georgia Moffett and David Tennant had a child and were engaged. I knew they were dating but it seemed wicked sudden. Imagine having your favorite Doctor as your Father in Law

Georgia has a son from a previous relationship. Not DT. If she does have one from DT then she now has 2 kids.

My DD11 would plotz if she saw Dr. Who stuff at Disney. I doubt it would ever happen though. She can't decide which is her favorite - Tennant or Smith.

I like Pertwee and am enjoying Smith. I got tired of the whole Tennant/Rose thing pretty quick.

I used to go to Dr. Who Conventions when I was young. I don't even know if they are around anymore. They were fun. We got alot of Dr. Who autographs at them. I know we have Pertwee, Baker, McCoy, Davidson and one of the masters.

There are many, many old-school fans who would consider that heresy. :rotfl2: Even Tennant himself says Tom Baker is "his" doctor.

But then I am an odd one, because "my" doctor is Eccleston, and nobody ever shares my love. Chacun à son goût, right?

Eccleston was fantastic..everybody in the UK thought that Tennant was never going tobe anything like as good as him, but he was. If I had to choose between them I think it would be Eccleston.:confused3

i don't think anything can beat the doctor/rose 'relationship',
"I'm burning up a sun just to say goodbye."
I cry every time I watch it, sometimes even when I just hear the dang music!

i don't think you'll get who stuff in the disney parks. the bbc would never be able to market it in such a way; they simply lack the funds.
No marketing needed. Stick it in the shops, we'll buy it :thumbsup2

I'm sure your Katie is delightful, but in this case she is absolutely wrong. David Tennant is always the correct answer. :)

Katie here, coming in to defend herself.

I was absolutely devastated when Ten regenerated, ignoring the whole "I don't want to go," thing (Really, RTD? Really?). He was my first Doctor, and yes, I will always love him. That being said, I love Eleven. I think that he has such a perfect emotional range. I mean, 'A Good Man Goes To War'? It was perfect! One minute, he was pretending to be a monk, and being rather silly, the next he was completely serious with the whole Colonel Runaway thing.

I also love River Song, which seems to be an unpopular opinion all over the internet so I'm just going to refrain from my essay on the River/Eleven relationship and it's many levels of perfection.

While having an ole' Police box in England would be cool...and VERY British... the problem would be the ownership of the design.

The BBC bought the copyright/design for the old Blue Metropolitan police box from the Police department a few years back.... in part because to the current generations the Blue Police Box is much more of a Doctor Who thing than a Police Box. (Assuming they even realize that Police Box's weren't all TARDIS' ;) )

Hmmmm..... Gotta admit though, suddenly I'm finding myself wondering how Mary Poppins at the M&G would react to being approached by a Dalek. :rotfl:

Darn BBC XD Like I said before, Disney BBC partnership should SO happen

haha Mary Poppins and A Dalek? I think it just died laughing a bit. That would be EPIC XD

I'm sure your Katie is delightful, but in this case she is absolutely wrong. David Tennant is always the correct answer. :)
I'd say the answer is David Tennant AND Matt Smith...but it has MANY answers ;)

that stinks they don't sell it. I was seriously hoping for a least SOMETHING. I didn't start watching doctor who until I left England so now its such a hassle to find things. I was hoping with its growing popularity..... oh well...

It's hard to get it in the states :/ I lived in NYC for seven months and the only DW stuff I ever saw was the DVDs (and only some of them) and Magazines. I'm back in PA now and literally, I have to go about an hour away to get anything DW

OH HOW MY WORLDS WOULD COLLIDE! It would be great if they did but i'm guessing BBC doesn't have many ties with Disney. I could totally go for a Tardis scarf.

Haha so could I but alas I'm guessing no such ties exist...yet

You are so very right!!!
The funny thing is that so many Who fans are also theater kids. Must be the whole active imagination thing!!

Hmmm, a can of blue spraypaint gone amuck in WS in England. It could happen. Not by me, but still........:woohoo:

Theater kids have great imaginations and DW is an imaginative show. It fits perfectly.

haha okay it's not you :rolleyes1

Heh.... So when I see a wall in the back of the Pavilion with "BAD WOLF" spray painted on it, I'm guessing I'll have to assume that was you?

:lmao:

If I saw "BAD WOLF" at Epcot, I think I'd die laughing :lmao:

You can always pick up a fez in Morocco. :thumbsup2

I have considered this...I'm hoping they're not too expensive. Fezes are cool

I was thinking of doing that for my friend. She gets a kick out of all of eleven's various hats. Her favorite is a fez. So technically Epcot DOES have Doctor Who stuff... its just in the wrong country! :rotfl:

haha it IS in the wrong country :lmao:

Or a Stetson in America (and Frontierland!) .....

I wear a Stetson now. Stetsons are cool.

haha YES!!! didn't think of that one

You just have to be creative with your thinking! Theres no "official" merchandise... just unofficial scattered through the parks

haha very good idea. :thumbsup2

But then I am an odd one, because "my" doctor is Eccleston, and nobody ever shares my love. Chacun à son goût, right?

My first Doctor is technically Eccleston...I heard what happened about him and it kinda ruined my enjoyment of his series :confused3 but I DID see a Tennant before that and I'm catching up on my Tennant while working on my Smith XD

And Tennant is reportedly engaged to Georgia Moffett, who is the daughter of Peter Davison -- and she also played opposite Tennant as the Doctor's cloned daughter in the 2008 episode "The Doctor's Daughter." So "the Doctor's" daughter played the Doctor's "daughter" -- and may become the Doctor's wife!

Scott

haha that IS crazy. My mind is blown

I've also found some neat Dr Who T's on 80's

wow, I'm in love with both  thanks for sharing :thumbsup2

I think I would too...and I'm turning 20 :rotfl: She's in the same boat as me! That's a cool kid :thumbsup2

I also got tired of Ten/Rose as well. Some moments were rather beautiful but I'm kinda glad she wasn't in on the conference call that had Jack (with Ianto and Gwen), Martha, Sarah Jane (R.I.P :( ) and her son and Harriett Jones (I saw that one recently XD)

If they still had those, I'd STILL go. That's so cool! Wonder why we don't have those... I missed out on meeting Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill and Alex Kingston when I lived in NYC...I had midterms and I JUST missed then when I got there :sad1:

"I'm burning up a sun just to say goodbye."
I cry every time I watch it, sometimes even when I just hear the dang music!

No marketing needed. Stick it in the shops, we'll buy it :thumbsup2

I cry sometimes when I see it.

haha YES!!! It'd go online "ENGLAND HAS DOCTOR WHO MERCH!" and we'll just buy it. No marketing needed :thumbsup2

Hey Katie! Another Katie here! First just have to say LOVE your Ariel and Rapunzel signature (especially your TLM Broadway picture )! Seriously made my day since I also love Ariel and Rapunzel.

I've seen Ten regenerate on the Proms Special only so far. I was like "...okay? None of the the other doctors got this big thing but whatever..." I'm watching my way up to it now to see if I will cry.

I love Eleven as well. He's just...brilliant. Matt Smith is an awesome actor too. I just did the musical Cabaret so I watched the Matt Smith movie Christopher and His Kind, which is about the life of Christopher Isherwood, who wrote Goodbye to Berlin, which inspired Cabaret. Isherwood also inspired a character in the show named Cliff AND Sally Bowles was a real person. It was all in there and Matt was just brilliant...I just didn't fully like the scenes of him being gay because I love him :rotfl:

I like River too. At first, I thought her and the Doctor's relationship was just weird but now that've gotten into it, I like it. They've got a great dynamic as well.

You will find a few of us over on the Community Board who like River (myself included). We haven't had a DW thread going in a while, but that should change when the rest of the season picks up on the 27th.

My first Doctor was Peter Davison (#5) then he moved to second place when DT took over the roll after EC. Funny how now they are FIL and Son-in-law, lol.

I've seen a few "Doctors" at a local sci-fi convention, back when I used to go to them. I have Pertwee's and McCoy's (missed Davison's by 2 years :headache:). DH and I also have autographs from Sophie Aldred, John Levene and Terry Nation.

Anyone who has been to EPCOT lately....do they sell any Doctor Who merchandise in England? especially David Tennant or Matt Smith?

Thanks for any replies :)
I don't recall seeing any in the store in mid-July BUT they do sell Dr. Who stuff at the NBC Store in NYC. I got my husband a t-shirt that said "Trust me, I'm a doctor" and a Dr. Who Encyclopedia.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think Matt Smith is great. I really do. But I adore David Tennant.

Thought his Doctor was Peter Davidson?? That was why he was geeking out so much in Time Crash. (and the line "You're The Doctor!? You're my Doctor!"

As a matter of fact, It was 5's tendency to bring out the glasses to look "smart" that prompted 10 to do the same thing.

(Yes... I am an old school and hardcore Whovian.)

:rotfl:

Whoops! You're right - I got the Fourth and Fifth mixed up!

I love River Song too! Anytime I find out that she is going to be in an episode I get super excited and I can't wait to find out what happens next now that we know who River really is.

They still have Who Conventions, in fact, I think they are on a bit of a resurgence these days in the USA because of the new series and the fact the good Doctor is no longer relegated to late-night PBS.

A quick Google search... and you have TIMEGATE next May in Atlanta. http://www.timegatecon.org/

The big one however is Gallifrey One out in California. http://www.gallifreyone.com/

And... since I seem to be the provider of Trivia on this thread....

Interesting Fact: Patrick Troughton, Doctor #2, Died while attending MOC (Magnum Opus Con) in Columbus, GA.

The guy who ran MOC didn't have a lot of fans within the Georgia Science Fiction community, and they never let him live down the fact that "He killed Doctor Who."

also another random bit of trivia.

The actor who plays Dudley Dursley, Harry Melling, is Patrick Troughton's grandson?
