Doctor Who is NASTY

As I'm sure you know, I've been watching my way through the modern Doctor Who's and am on to the Tennant series and I swear, the Doctor never used to be this nasty! The child in the gas mask (Are you my mummy?), the Weeping Angels (don't blink!) and especially the Ood (complete with a huge demon and many gnarly deaths). And these aren't on after the watershed?!

Ahh... Tennant is great and the writing for his time was really good. There is also a certain excitement he brings to the character that I really liked. I've always been impressed with his commitment to the whole Dr. Who world. :)

Wait until you get to Matt Smith. :) He brings a depth of emotion to the character that is unmatched, IMO. When everybody was going crazy over his performance in Dragons, we just sat back and went "Ahh. Non-Dr.Who fans."

Where do you stream them? I have really only watched Peter Capaldi, and my hubby is partial to Tom Baker, but I do like Matt Smith and David Tennant.

Nasty? Dark yes, but still family friendly for kids over 9 or so. My children and I very much enjoyed watching them together. To me nasty would mean something not appropriate for children under 18.

Just thinking about the "Ood" episode, whilst I'd agree with you that it's not an 18 rated episode, I WOULD hesitate before showing it to any young children! Those creatures are bloody terrifying, lots of people die and that demon in the pit is the stuff of nightmares!

In the episode School Reunion (The one with Sarah Jane), Tennant's Doctor states, "I'm so old now...I used to have so much mercy." He knows he's gotten darker as a person, and he doesn't necessarily like it.

And yes, I can quote verbatim from Tennant's time as the Doctor. That's what happens when you have the box sets and
watch them all the time.:o David Tennant is probably my favorite actor to ever play the role-he's my Doctor and always will be.

I’ve been a fan since 1972. In “Day of the Daleks”, not only did the Doctor carry a weapon, but he also killed an Ogron with it! (Admittedly the Ogron was working for the Daleks, but still….)
