Doctor or Dentist?

I don't like appointments with...

  • The Dentist

Neither. Haven't been to the doctor since my last pregnancy 3 years ago, and when I go to the dentist it's for cleaning.

Glad to say that I've only had 2 cavities in 33 years, and I hope to keep it that way.

Now DH, he would say both. He's got white coat syndrome and is scared to death of doctors, dentists, hospitals, needles, etc.

Don't mind the dentist at all. The doctor I put off as long as possible. Especially since I hate waiting in a waiting room with a bunch of sick people when I'm usually just there for a new Rx or a flu shot. Plus, the dentist has a friendlier staff.

Oh...I think I lucked out. I have a great Doctor, great Dentist & an even better OB/GYN! ;)

My feelings are hurt! Not all us dentists are ogres. Some of my patients actually like seeing me. Seriously, you need to find one you're comfortable with, one who is willing to listen to you.

Dr. Maria
If I could come to you I would, but I think the airfare and distance might be a little too much! ;)

The Doctor...have to sit in the waiting room forever, then they take you and you sit in another room forever...everyone there is either really old or they stink or they are sick.....so depressing at the dr's office....

The dentist always gets me right in, there is usually some pain involved but its my own fault for not brushing enough or flossing..:jester:

Tigerbear, I feel the exact same way ::yes::

I dread going to my dentist, even though I rarely, if ever, have problems. Somehow, my dad can sleep through his dentist appointments! Not me! I grip the arms of the chair like I'm on a plane getting ready to land on rough water

Hands down it's the DENTIST - and I have the DENTURES to prove it!!!!!!

Bad, bad experience as a small child and refused to go back ever again unless I had a toothache that was causing so much pain I was considering suicide..

definitely the dentist. in fact i am due for another appointment bu my dentist DIED a couple months ago so now i have to find a new one and i am dreading it!

For me its the eye doctor.

You said it Camcolt. I went for the first time last year in about 20 years and it was a horror show. I have a serious eye "thing" where I hate anything related to eyes (drops, contacts, etc).

I thought I was going blind so I made myself go. I just had a "floater". Gross...

This year alone I have had 3 teeth removed to prepare for 3 dental implants, 2 crown lengthenings, and a sinus lift. The periodontist was glad that he wan't inflicting the most pain:o , Infact I showed up 1 week early to my reg. dental cleaning this morning, because I am so used to going LOL, but when your regular MD starts complaining that your choloresteral is too low at 137, I give up with both of them.:(

I HATE the dentist!!!!!!!! In fact, I would rather go through child birth again than go to the dentist!! I think the next time I go, I am going to ask for laughing gas.

Used to be both, but I've managed to find a great doctor and a terrific dentist -- neither of whom studied at the Marquis de Sade School of Medicine!! I had to go to my 1st peridontal appt. today and now have a 2nd dentist I actually like. Who'd have thought there were dentists out there who don't believe in inflicting pain on their patients?!?!?

I went to a dentist that reminded me of Hannibal Lecter - especially his eyes. :scared1:

I had broken a tooth at work eating a granary roll  and needed a temporary replacement fast. I was new to the area and my work colleague recommended the practice that she went to. I didn't get to see her actual dentist though.

He was miserable, rough, it hurt and he had no bedside (or is it chairside :p ) manners at all. I was supposed to go back for a second appointment with him but there was no way I was setting foot in that dental surgery ever again!

I have a terrible phobia about dentists. I force myself to go, though :)

I hate them both.
Don't like needles at all. And I have an issue with people sticking their hands down my shirt. Guess what doctors do....I have other issues with stuff docs do, but....we'll leave it at that.
I hate my dentist. He actually caused severe bruising on one of my friend's faces. He gave her 8 shots of novicane when she was having a minor cavity filled, even though she was numb after the first shot. So I am VERY scared to have him give me novicane. Besides-I just plain don't like people sticking their hands in my mouth. And when I was there in March the dental hygenist was hacking while she was working on me. Guess who got sick about 3 days later....I'd love to find a new dentist, but my stepdad just about worships this particular guy-so it'll be a long time before I can get my wish.

Neither, have a very nice family MD she is the best and I have worked for a periodontist for almost 26 years.
