Do your young kids like Epcot?

We just booked our vacation, :cool1:, but we did have to cut a day to offset high airfare. So, we have 4 days Sun-Wed. Sunday will be at Star Wars and then one day will be Universal to see Harry Potter. That leaves only 2 days. We aren't big animal people, so AK will not be a big loss. We want to visit there some time, but it will have to be on another trip. That leaves 2 days for MK and Epcot. Our boys are 6 and 3. Should both be a MK, or 1 at MK and 1 at Epcot? I really wish we could add a day, but it just isn't in the cards for this trip. Thanks.

I have a strange question back. Do you have to do Universal this trip? I've researched it and the height requirements made me not want to go until my son is tall enough for rides. I would think that one or both of your kids might be out of luck on a lot of the rides. Just a thought. Plus adding a day to Disney would be cheaper than a day at Universal I would think.

With that said. I would do MK and then let your kids decide if they won't to go back there or they might want to go back to HS even. We always go to Epcot with my son who is now 6 and he enjoys himself. Test Track and Soarin' are a must. And he really likes the ride Living with the Land. But if I had to give it up, I would, because there is so much to do at MK.

Just my thoughts.

When I took my five and six year olds to Epcot, they both enjoyed it. But, given the option, I think they both may have voted for more time at MK.

My four and two year olds love it - the older one even more this trip. He played the Agent P game for hours, loved TT and Soarin', got to ask Crush a question even at Turtle Talk. We love dancing to the music in all the countries, and coloring at the Kidcot stations.

Epcot needs some work for sure, but it can be a blast.

Mine have always hated Epcot. They are 5 & 7 now. There is very little for them to do there and they are bored after an hour or two. We always spend most of the day at AK then hop to Epcot for the 3 things they like and then maybe watch Illuminations. If you don't have a Park Hopper, I wouldn't waste a day's ticket just on Epcot.

We did Epcot last summer when dd was 4 and she loved it. Soarin was her fave. But she loved figment, nemo, turtle talk, land, riding in the ball, Mexico boat ride, lots of characters with short lines, face painting. It was a great day!

My daughter who turned five at the time loved both magic kingdom and epcot. She was old enough to ride soarin and we had her birthday lunch at Akershus royal banquet hall. (Awesome for princesses). Unfortunately not a lot do for under the five crowd. Magic Kingdom is a full two days to see the whole thing. If you try to do both parks in two days with naps you will be ready to kill someone. We had our first trip to Disney World last Spring Break and did not even do the new Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. We have a five year old girl and two year old boy. We loved both parks, and would rate them first and second out of all four but with young kids and only two days, I would sacrifice Epcot to get two days at Magic Kingdom. :moped:

She does, very much. Actually, we are going for 2 days in March and the only parks we are attending are MK and Epcot. I will say that she was tall enough on our last trip at 5 y/o for all attractions and enjoys rides of all kinds. She is nearly 7 now and is oveer the moon excited! Enjoy your vacation and do what is best for your family! :goodvibes

My daughter loved Epcot since age 4..As for Universal, I am a huge Universal fan, but its not going to be Cheap..One day tickets to Disney or Universal are expensive and rarely discounted. Also given the ages of your kids, they might not make the height requirements for alot of things, and even if they do ,hoe much they can ride will depend on how timid they are.

My extended family went in October. DD4 loved Epcot and especially loved the Kidcot craft stations. My nephew who was 4.5 at the time, loved Epcot as well. He even the Agent P adventure and Jedi training Academy were his favorite parts of the whole trip.

My niece loved the kidcot stations because they have real interactions with people. She is a talker though!

Mine enjoy it, but if I were in your situation and only had 2 days at the parks, I would choose 2 days at MK.

My kids (ages 5-22) are not big fans of Epcot. We have tried walking around the countries....but they are just bored. We have done a few things in Innoventions (mainly while waiting for our free Disney Visa picture) but they dont like that stuff much either.
They do like Soarin, Test Track and Mission Space. We only ever do one day in Epcot. If I were going on such a short trip, I would definately do 2 MK days.
Lots of people love Epcot, we just have never been able to enjoy it to the point of loving it. We do the few things we want to there....and then move on to the other parks:thumbsup2

DS is now 9, but ever since we started taking him at about 3, for some reason, Epcot has been his favorite park. He just loves it. He insists that is the first park we visit every time we go. I will have to agree with someone that asked if Universal was important. I took DS at age 6 for his first time, and honestly, he didn't enjoy it all that much. There were a lot of things he couldn't do. If we hadn't had free tickets, I am sure I wouldn't have bothered with it that time. And as far as Harry Potter....it's awesome, but your kids won't be able to ride two out of the three rides in that section, maybe not even the third one. It gets really crowded, as it was done in a small scale, so stores are very small. Just not sure kids that young would appreciate nearly as much as an additional day at the MK or another Disney park. But...you knw your family best! Have fun whatever you decide to do, and enjoy the joy your kids will experience!!! It's priceless!

My princess didn't appreciate EPCOT until she was about 12. She wanted to ride Soarin and then leave. Now she wants to visit the entire park several times on a single trip.

Epcot has been my DD's favorite park since she first visited at age 6. She would want to spend part of every day there! We never ran out of fun things for her to do and enjoy. Last fall, she and her BFF could have spent the entire 6 days there and never made it to the other parks.

Will you have hoppers? If so, it's a no-brainer. If not, I would still take a day for Epcot. As other posters have said, I'd take off the Universal day before I skipped Epcot, but that's just me. A lot of the attractions at Universal will be too intense for kids aged 3 and 6 (and they won't make the height requirement for many of them).

I'm 60+, over 45 trips to WDW and EPCOT doesn't hold my interest at all .... Different strokes, same with AK, could skip both parks and not regret it!!

Epcot has been my son and daughter's favourite park since their first visit to Disney when they were 6 and 3. MK is a close second. But do to your limited time, I would probably do two days at MK.

However, I would also rethink your Universal day. We have not gone yet but plan to do so when my kids will be 10 and 7 because of the height restrictions. If you do forgo universal, you can add the Epcot day there.

Ditto! Have you looked into prices? Four tickets to Universal will cost you $500! If you book your room through WDW and add your tickets as part of a MYW package, a four day OR a five day ticket will be cheaper than the three day ticket you would be buying. That $500 save from Universal (not to mention paying for transportation over there) will pay for your extra night in a 2 bedroom villa, and you can get a five day WDW ticket without paying any extra!

Universal is great, but after going two years ago to satisfy my DH and DS Harry Potter nuts, we are skipping it this year. We will go again when our youngest is tall enough to ride things there. (When he is maybe 8.) If your brother wants to go, split up for a day.
