Do your meal patterns change when you're at WDW?

Hi everyone!

At home, we eat three square meals a day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, while at WDW, we stomach 2 big meals per day, (usually breakfast & a late lunch), with snacking in between. I think the reason we eat less while at WDW, is because it's so hot and we're so busy do things that we don't seem to get that hungry.

How about you? Do your meal patterns change while at WDW? :)

Definitely a shift in our crew.

For starters, we don't typically eat heavy meals, but if the food is put before us, by golly, we're gonna eat it! So as a result, we're too stuffed to do a 3 square/day. (I still remember waddling into a PS dinner at Chefs du France after having eaten out for b'fast and then eating what was supposed to be a "light lunch" at Garden Grille that turned into massive meal... we apologized profusely to our waiter and ordered an appetizer and a dessert. It was all we could manage, even though the PS was a late one! We laerned our lesson!)

With kids in tow, we find we eat a light b'fast in the villa (cereal, etc.) and pack snacks for mid-day on the go. We then take in an early PS for dinner and relax and enjoy it fully. We then usually get a "treat" later if we're still in the parks (like ice cream, funnel cake, whatever.) On days when we don't "do the parks" and hang out at the resort, we may take in a heavy b'fast (character) and then lighter fare through rest of day.

One big difference lately is that we travel now in AUgust, due to kid's school and sports schedules that consume every other possible day. In August, I am just not in the mood for more than 1 big meal! Just gimme lots of water!

Guess I'm the opposite!! LOL...All we wanted to do was eat! All the food sounded soo good, and we love trying new places. We ate breakfast (which we usually don't at home) a pretty big lunch and a pretty big dinner down there...it's usually minimal at home,.
Of course...we snacked alot too...sure got expensive!!!!

cali - we are like you too. At home I eat three meals but breakfast is never anything much. When I'm at WDW I love to eat - 3 sit downs a day - I guess we need that extra fuel to keep us going. Also it's vacation so we live it up a bit and do stuff we wouldn't normally do while we are at home.

I think I have finally learned my lesson about eating at WDW. In the past, I have been pretty "PS Crazy"--trying to fit in as many old favorites and "must try" restaurants each trip. After three days we get tired of big meals. (We don't eat huge meals at home). Hard to believe we can get WDW restaurant burnout, but we do!

My plan this year is to do most breakfasts in our room (we drive, so I can pack plenty of yogurt in the cooler), with the exception of one each at Kona Cafe, Boma and Chef Mickey's. One day will be devoted to sampling our way through the F&W Festival. I am making PS for California Grill, 'Ohana, Boma, San Angel, Le Cellier (combo of lunches and dinners), but relying on light counter service meals or snacks for the rest.

Also, I plan to drink more water!!! I always forget to do that.

I guess ours change somewhat. We alternate between breakfast in the room and breakfast in a restaurant. When I've had a bowl of cereal at 7, buy 10 I'm ready for a snack. On those days, I pretty much graze my way through WDW. My DH always laughs though because I'll get something, take 3 or 4 bites, and be ready to go again. I then pass the leftovers to him. This is probably why I always lose 5 or 6 pounds while at WDW and he gains them! Anyway, we usually do a counter service lunch (I come to hate fast food by day 2), and a nice dinner.

A little, at home I eat my biggest meal around 3pm, in Disney we make dinner our big meal.

We stay in YC concierge so for breakfast we eat light, maybe a little fruit, etc. Then while in the parks we snack on candy and whatever we feel like having. I make everyone stop snacking around 3pm and then we have a nice dinner around 6pm.
For dessert we usually don't eat it in the restaurant b/c we are too full so we wait an hour and then usually get it at the concierge, someplace in the park or at SeaShore Sweets on the Boardwalk.

Ours change a bit--. At WDW we almost always have a full breakfast, no lunch, then a substantial dinner relatively early in the evening.
At home, often it's cereal for breakfast, a light lunch, then a "medium" dinner relatively early.
