Do your kids look alike?

People tell me they look alike, and that they look like me, but I don't really think so. DD11 is colored like DH's family (strawberry blond, freckles, blue eyes). She looks alot like his sisters. DD8 is brown eyes, light brown hair, and lovely tan skin, more like my side. At one time they had capes like the girls on Barbie Princess and the Pauper and they would back into each other, look, and say "We could be sisters!" like they do in the movie. :D

They both have curls though, and that may be what people are noticing. I have curls, but not as much as them. They may have gotten it from my dad and DH's grandma as well.

DH looks exactly like his grandpa did.

DH's parents are both redheads so none of their 4 kids really had a chance to be anything else. Heck, one time I put some highlights in my hair and they turned red. I showed DH and HE said "We could be sisters!" (Been around our DD's too much I guess) Funny though, that none of the 4 grandkids have red hair- DD11 comes the closest but it's pretty blonde.

I can tell where I got every single one of my features. I have my dad's ears, nose, eyebrows, and hair, and my mom's eyes and teeth. I guess that means I will go gray early but not need glasses until I'm 50!

I have a son and a daughter and they look very much alike. They look like their Dad. Nothing like me. (Although I've had people say dd looks like me UNTIL they see her Dad, and then they realize she looks like him).

When they were toddlers, most people thought they were twins. They are 2.5 years apart in age.

My oldest son and youngest daughter look totally alike except eye color, When my youngest daughter was a newborn and I was sleep deprived I actually one night thought she was him.Their bab'ty pictures from about the same age 9 months are almost identical but one is in boy clothes one is in girls clothes.

My oldest daughter looks a little bit like my deceased son but mostly looks like pictures I have of my natural father who I never really knew. She doesn't really look anything like the other two. She and my youngest daughter are 15 months apart but teachers would never guess they were related if we didn't have such an unusual and unforgettable last name.

My son and youngest daughter I think look alot like me, my cousin calls my youngest my mini me. I look SOOOO much like my mom that sometimes the older friends and relatives in the family call me by my mothers name. I realize they are getting up there in age but it still comes off as strange. My mom grew up in a semi small town and if I attend an event down there even without my mom people I know come up to me and say aren't you so and so's daughter!! I don't like that much.

My oldest is mini me...I still think my youngest may be a clone...especially when I do a side by side with the oldest's baby pictures at the same age.

I think my children look enough alike that it would be know. That any two
of them are siblings.

Was at a party this weekend.
Parents commented how their son looks
just like their oldest dd. They had a picture of the oldest at age 1 in a dress (a girl of course)...but were showing people saying they took their son's picture in a dress. It was quite the successful joke. One guy was very serious when he told them they shouldn't have done that. So at 8 years apart...they look lime twins.

I feel I can pass off baby pics of my oldest as my youngest.

How does that happen? Genetics and dominant/recessive trait combinations. Reason why my kids have blue eyes...I am recessive and their grandmother on hubby's side has blue eyes while hubbu and his siblings and parents have brown.

Genetic traits are cool especially when soemthing pops up that you did not expect.

I have 2 girls 8.5 and 6. We just got back from disney and SO many people (even characters like Alice) asked if they were twins. DD8 was getting a little annoyed with that. They look very much alike, and both like their dad.

When one of my sons (who was 3 years old at the time) saw a picture of his older brother's t-ball picture (who was 5 years old in the picture), my younger son said "That was me when I was bigger." We thought that was funny as they did look similar in the pictures. But they look nothing alike now. I have 5 kids and none of them look alike or even related to each other (even my set of twins.) The faces don't look alike and the eye colors and hair colors are all different too. I have two blondes, one red head, and two dark brown haired kids with green eyes, blue eyes, hazel eyes, and one with brown eyes.

I only have one, and she takes after her dad more than me, so I have nothing to reference. I'm amazed, however, at her boyfriend and his siblings' similarities. They all three of them share the same, exact facial features; two have the same, exact blonde hair as mom, and one has dad's brown hair. The only differences are really in their builds. And they're not twins either; 17, almost 15 and 13. Kinda freaky how they look so much alike! ;)

My neice and nephew (brother and sister), on the other hand, look really nothing like each other; nephew favors dad, and neice looks JUST like her mom.

I only have one- I don't think she looks like me or my DH, She looks like a combo of his twin sisters and my sister. Wierd. I don't look like my sister at all- we have the same voice and handwriting though(she is 6 years older)- and she is a leftie and I'm not.

My 2 girls look nothing alike. As matter of fact, I'm still wondering who gave birth the the second one! :rotfl: She looks nothing like any of us, while the oldest looks just like her father.

My sister and me were the same way. People didn't and still don't believe we are sisters because we look nothing alike.

I could have written the first paragraph of this post:rotfl: I have 2 girls too and both are very different. My oldest looks like her dad and my youngest, though looks like me, has the most gorgeous blue eyes, which one of us have. She inherited it from my dad. When she goes out with my DH, she sure looks adopted. Strange how the same parents can have 2 very different kids.

I have 2 DDs, 14 and 15, one looks like me with dark brown hair and blue eyes and the other looks like her father with blonde hair and blue eyes. They do not look anything alike :)

none of my kids look alike either. Not even my twins! One twin is the image of my mother, which gives her a bit of resemblence to me, the other is the image of her father. Oldest ds looked like a clone of my father as an infant, now we have no idea who he looks like. The rest are a combination of dh and I. All the kids are some version of blond, but none of them have the same eye color either.

The funniest is my fraternal twin dd's. They favor opposite sides of the family, one has blue eyes, the other brown. One tans, the other burns in the shade with sunscreen on. One is 3 inches taller. Every time they switch schools, I have to explain to the teachers that they really are twins. They always think the taller one was left back a year.

My boys are 9 and almost 5 and they look so much alike that everyone calls my little one the mini of my oldest. Personality wise they are very different but you can absolutely tell they are brothers.

Well I only have one kiddo and he is a mini me... of my brother! :rotfl:

I'm not kidding, people think he is my brothers kid not mine :rotfl: Here is the weird thing, my brother and I look alike but my kid is a dead ringer for his uncle!! (and a scary side note, they act alike )

I don't have kids, but my sister and I look a lot alike (or so people tell us).
We've been asked if we are twins (I'm 30, she's 21, so that was ok by me :thumbsup2 ) People that know us well think it's crazy that anyone could think we are twins! But people that know me and have never met her will see her out somewhere and come back and tell me, "I saw a girl at ____ and I just knew that was your sister", and yep it was her!

DS20 is a taller male version of me. He often gets the "who's your mama" question. LOL! DD19 looks like me but shorter and lighter hair. Like Laracroft said, glad they do look like me!! :scared1:

I have three DDs they really don't look a lot alike, I have always thought my oldest looks like me, the middle like their Dad (she definitely has his demeanor) and everyone thinks our youngest looks like me too! It may be their age difference, they are 14, 10, and 5.

My oldest and youngest look like clones of each other (8 and 15 months) they are both clones of daddy. You look at pictures of them at the same age and can't tell them apart, have to look at clothes (including hubby)

My middle son looks a lot like me. My nephew is my brothers clone, so my middle son and nephew look more like brothers than cousins. When we are all together, you may think we have 4 boys vs 3 :lmao:

If you have them all together, you can tell my kids are related BUT the 3rd & 4th are the 2 that look the most alike. It's hard when looking at pictures to try to figure out if that is child #3 or child #4 since they look SO much alike. You basically have to use background clues to know (or ages of the older 2 kids) -- especially since I pass down clothes, you can't even go by that!

Now my DD and oldest DS don't look anything alike. My oldest DS somehow got BLONDE hair and none of us have blonde hair. Unfortunately, for him it is getting darker now & he hates it...he LOVED having his blonde hair because it made him stand out. It did get to the point that I would answer "milkman" when people would ask "where did he get his blonde hair?" ;)

Now, they all mostly have my dad's side of the family look. It was pretty funny when DD was a Freshman cheerleader and come to find out my cousin's daughter was a Senior cheerleader (we have a big family & I'm the youngest of that generation so most of my 1st cousins are already grandparents, etc...). My aunt asked my dad if she was a relative because she "Looked like one of us" at the back to school event.

The poor kid even got asked about her grandmother in grade school because someone my brother went to school with (and my mom had worked with) worked there and she saw the family resemblance.....that one was hysterical because we were trying to figure out how in the world someone from her grade school would even remotely come up with that connection. We aren't in the same town, there was nothing to indicate the family relation at the time and it was just weird.

at least you got one with blue eyes... 4 here also and none got my blue eyes:lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That's DH's thought! He has blue eyes and was quite bummed when none of his kids got blue eyes. I TOLD him that he didn't have much chance with my brown eyes, being they are dominent and I was pretty sure I didn't have any blue recessive genes in my body. Although they don't all have deep brown, some are speckled. I told him, maybe the grandkids will get the blue eyes.
