Do your kids have snacks in school?

K-5 have snack outside at afternoon recess.

They get 1 recess at lunch and then another in the afternoon or morning depending on their lunch schedule I believe.

In full day K the kids get to have 2 snacks (a lunch) and they get 3 recesses due to their age. They need to burn more energy. My DD was in 1/2 day K, so she got 1 snack and 1 recess.

1st - 6th grade get 1 snack provided for by parents for morning or afternoon, depedending on when their lunch is. What is allowed is decided by each teacher. The K teacher only allowed dry foods or whole fruit. If your kid brought in not approved snacks, they wouldn't be allowed to eat it and the teacher always had some choices of animal crackers or pretzels.

The 1st and 2nd grade teachers allowed most things, except nut products. If the child didn't have a snack then the teacher provided saltines.

In K DS had snacks. He had lunch at 10:30am!

Last year, in 1st, they had lunch at 10:45am. His teacher asked that everyone send drinks/snacks once a month. I'm not sure how many parents participated, but I always sent drinks/snacks when it was my turn.

For the last two years in first grade, I've had lunch at 12:30. The kids are eating breakfast at school at 7:30. That's too long to go without something to eat, so we have a small snack at 11:30 when they get back from gym/art/etc. Either I provide it, or parents will donate. As far as I know, I'm the only class of 8 that does it. I just don't know how the other ones make it!
