Do your kids have a water slip and slide?

I bought one today for the grandkids. Didn't read the box very carefully. It says for ages 5 and up. Well, I know our 3 year old grandaughter will want to play on it also. Are they dangerous? Why the age warning? Do any of you have little ones that play on it? I may have to return it before the little ones find out I bought it.:(

Probably a small parts thing, can't think about anything else that could be bad. Just remember to wet the grass down at the end of it, hitting the dry ground hurts.

We have one. Some of the younger children in the neighborhood play on it -- under the age of 5. They have a hard time coordinating the run and belly flop concept of the slip and slide. They tend to run, stop short and throw themselves on their stomachs so they don't slip or slide...they just lay there. But since the water is sprinkling up from the sides to wet the plastic they like it...gives them a gentle sprinkle.

Also, we've found, the lighter you are, the faster you slide. DD (7) is very thin and she flies right off the end...up and over the blow-up lip at the end which is about 4 inches high when inflated. But her friends who is bigger never has that problem.

Let them use it...but keep a really close eye on them.

I have also seen children under 5. I would be sure to watch them, but would do that for over 5 because they can get routy!

I hope they all have a great time.

We had one a few years ago. The kids enjoyed it but MY biggest complaint is what it does to your yard!! It made such a muddy mess and since the kids moved it every day (to an unmuddy area!) the yard was a total wreck in about a week! :(

We recently went to a birthday party and they had one set up for the kids to play on. They set it up on a hill, which I think is against the instructions. The kids had a great time on it BUT:

2 little boys (barely 5) were throwing themselves down the hill so hard that they first made a small rip in the side and then completely tore the bottom end of it off. This was in the first 10 minutes of play. It DOES tear up the lawn, especially if they fly off the end and slide on the grass.

we have had 2 and it is such a muddy mess, I will never have another one. The kids are such a mess after they use it for more than a few minutes.

No more slip-N-slides at our house.
DS, who was 8 at the time, pulled a muscle in his neck.
He was miserable for a week.

However.....the other kids were all fine.

I did decide to return the slip and slide this morning. Then proceeded to buy a small pool. Well, that was no easy task. It has turned HOT here in Michigan and everyone must have rushed out to buy one. I wanted something inexpensive that I could let the water out of. The grandkids aren't here every day. Anyway, found a three ring one, filled it, added some hot water also and two of the grandkids had a fun afternoon with it. Thanks for all the advice on the slip and slide. (SillyoldBear so sorry about your son's neck muscle. Glad he's okay.)
