Do your kids carry anything?

I would love to get my DS7 a fanny pack for the parks, but DS has no waist to speak of - he still fits waist-wise into 3Ts (length-wise 3T looks like Daisy Dukes on him - he's so tall!). Any suggestions for a fanny pack for an itty-bitty kid, or how to adjust the strap to fit a smaller-waisted kid? I know any backpack that comes along will eventually be held by Mommy and/or Daddy...

I've taken the strap, cut it down and then sewed it back up on the sewing machine for when my kids were small. No sewing talent is required for that one and I'm sure you could even do it by hand if you didn't have a machine.

We also did light-weight backpacks. I found that if you put too much (or let them put too much) in them, they tear, so keep it to a minimum. My girls carried their autograph books, a pen, a small water bottle and either fruit snacks or another small snack. They also had sunglasses in them, but the glasses pretty much stayed on them because it was BRIGHT! I got my bags (Disney themed, too - Princesses, Tinkerbell, Buzz Lightyear) at the dollar store and I think they were $3. I buy extras for each trip just incase they break.

yes, my 6 and 8 year olds carry some of their own stuff. They have brought backpacks before and carried sunglasses, camera, activities for waiting in line. On our last trip they only brought their cameras and carried them in a camera case around their neck.

We are going to WDW next week and my DD and I will each have our own sling-type bags, mine a baggallini (lime green!) and hers a pink and black one that was on clearance at LLBean a couple months ago. It's about the size of the baggalini, maybe a little smaller. She will carry her water, autograph book, pen, pins, poncho, snack, and camera. This will be a first for her, previous trips I have just carried everything, so we'll see how it goes!

Stroller- gotta love them LOL we shove most things in/under our mac but then I carry a large backpack which Dh, DD10 and I pass between us (please don't think we're cruel DD10 is nearly 5 foot tall, very, very athletic and walks several mile a day at home as we have no car so it's no big shock to her system)

I prefer to have one big bag and know where everything is at anyone given time than everyone having a small one to keep track of.

DD4 carries her own mister fan (won't let go of it- not fond of the heat LOL) DS5 carries "ice bat" (odd looking uglee doll teddy he insists goes everywhere with us **sigh** - one good thing about it is he's that ugly looking is ds does leave him behind he's sat right there waiting for us when we backtrack )

I've found the most comfortable thing for me (and for my dd), is a very small pocketbook w/ a very long, single strap. we wear them across our chest, and the size of the pocketbook is the same size as a fannypack. I tried the fanny pack, but didn't like it around my waist, and anything on my back is a pain when you sit (on a ride or anywhere else). It's certainly not a big deal, but w/ the little pocketbook, I never have to move it or remove it for any reason, so there's no chance to lose it. I also like having my stuff up front w/ me, within my reach (as opposed to a backpack you have to take off to get something out of). I have a nice, very soft denim one w/ a zippered closure and a wide soft denim strap (those thin backpack straps often hurt my shoulders). DD used the tiny denim ones they sell at the disney charm kiosks - it has a chain running around it, and you purchase different charms to hang off the chain. It's really fun for her (and I've added charms to my own pocketbook too! Lots of fun!) The only thing I don't like about her pocketbook is there's no zipper closure, just a fold over tab. If the pocketbook turns upsidedown, stuff can fall out. I HATE that! Maybe I'll be adventurous and get a zipper put on her bag somehow (definitely not by me though).
