Do your friends know you DIS?

Do they understand?

Do you find that the DIS slips into conversations. For example: "I asked online about what dishwasher people have." Or: "Yeah, someone online was talking about that same topic."

They do, but I truly don't think they understand. A lot don't understand my fixation with WDW either.

Me, too. I can see that I 'lose' a lot of people once I start talking about WDW or DCL. Oh, well, their loss.
I mention DIS a lot. I try to encourage those that are going or interested in going to either to try the DIS Boards.

My family and friends know I DIS - they kind of smile wryly and humor me! Everyone (even at work) knows my love of WDW - some understand / many don't. It doesn't bother me a bit. I am happy in my own little Disney-world.

Yeah, most all of my friends know that I DIS. My best friend even posts every once in a while and came to DIS CON II with me (mels28). Most of my friends don't love WDW as much as I do, but they like to go with me on trips. I do find that it fits into every day conversation pretty frequently.

I mention it now and then, but not to the point of explaining it in-depth. I tried that a couple of times and got wierd looks in return. People who don't like/don't care about Disney just don't get it (isn't Disney just another theme park....like Six Flags? ). I have a friend who is a theme park junkie and has never been to either WDW or DLR but wants to go badly, especially after hearing me talk about it for years. I've tried to get him on here to ask questions, etc, but he never gets around to it. Whenever I want to talk about something I read on the DIS, especially when I'm at work, I just mention I saw it on a message board.

And they think I am NUTS! I tell them, how else am I suppose to meet NORMAL People like me! Than, when I tell them that I "meet People from the DIS Boards and hang out at WDW" they REALLY think I am NUTS! Especially when I NEVER met any of them EVER before!

Yep my family and friends know about this... most understand and think it's kind of cool. Others don't and I just don't mention the DIS to them much.

I'm forever saying "I read on my message board..." often. I think those that I'm speaking to must think I spend waaayyy too much time online - and they'd be right.

I always tell my friends or dh something of interest I read her or something really funny. I do say my Dis or Disney friends. The only time they seem interested is if there is an impending trip and I'm giving them helpful info. Otherwise I kind of get a "oh dear there she goes again" look. I will say that noe of them spend much time on the net much let at agreat website like this. They are never rude about it but you can see by the blank look on their faces they dont get it.

Yes. My DH is glad I found it. since he does not understand my love for Disney he is happy I have the Dis to turn to.

Most of my friends and co-workers know. Some understand, some don't. I think the family thinks we are nuts. Who cares! I get great information, support, and fun out of these boards.

A number of friends do and they kind of enjoy Disney, but in a more suddued fashion, LOL, and humor me a bit. Marie, who as Lady M, enjoys the DIS, mostly for the people here, not the Disney side of it, she will still roll her eyes a bit, but less than she used too. Vince and Natalie really don't mention it, just say, 'goodbye dad, have a good trip', when I go to WDW and enjoy what I bring home, Marie too. My assistant, Karen, knows a lot about it and really thinks it is cool.

If someone is planning a trip that I know, I refer them to the boards to get advice. But if I am just talking in general about Disney I will usually say "My firend said...." or "I heardf rom somewhere....". It takes too much explainging to those that don't understand!!!!
