Do your friends know about the dis?

My family knows, and only two of my closest friends know.
I feel kind of embarrassed by it. . idk why.

XD

I don't know why people say that they are embarrased to admit that they have online friends. I openly admit to it, often me and my best friend will have conversations about our online friends.

Because people are cruel. No offense Billy, but your previous posts have led me on that you 1) Go to a tiny school and 2) Live in a tiny town. You also live in the south no?

It's not that way here. We have at least 700 kids between 3 grades in my high school, my town is tiny but very overpopulated, and I live in the North. Northern people tend to be more judging, while the South is friendly and "la-dee-da". You'd be ridiculed and labeled a freak if people in school found out you had friends you haven't actually met.

JMHO.

Doesn't bother me, I tell people about my friends on here. :goodvibes

Yeah, I do go to a tiny school in the South. People are cruel and judging everywhere. I've learned not to care what people think. If you are always caught up in wondering what people think about you, you'll never truly live. Dance like no one's watching, sing like nobody can hear you.

I can probably honestly say that most of my friends have some kind of online friend. It's common anymore, since MySpace has linked so many people together.

And the tiny towns are more judging than your large cities, by the way. We all know each other, which lets word travel uberly fast. I can go in my hallway at school and name you almost everybody's parents, where they live, how many brothers and sisters they have, and all kinds of other random stuff. Like I said, people know everything about everybody.

I've told three friends.. lol. They thought it was sorta weird. But they don't care anymore. :)

My friends do not know about the DIS. I don't want them to. They would never join, but then they'd read some things and maybe they wouldn't be happy with what they read. They kind of piss me off sometimes, and Ineed to say it somewhere.

My friend (no one else) knows I have one online friend, but she doesn't know from where.. so yeah.

::yes:: ::yes::
ITA with everything, especially the small schools and how nothing is safe when you say it, no matter who you said it to or how you said it, because everyone will know about it in a matter of minutes.

My friends know about the DIS. I've been on it when they've been at my house before. I talk to my mom about it all the time too.

I always hear funny stories or interesting things on here & im like "i know somebody who.." and they are like "hahah who?" & im like "uuh.. " xD

& It is SO hard to explain the IM's & txts from disers.

& You have NO clue how hard it is to explain the pictures of me, kayla & collin!

& I try not to lie so im like "Oh people i met in disney" *true* haha!

Me too! That happened to me the week before winter break. xD

My ex-bff knows about this place, and made an account but never came on. I don't tell my friends about what internet sites I visit, and I probably would never tell them about the DIS since it's kind of my relax place. If I knew my friends from school were on here, I'd think twice about a lot of the stuff I post on here.

3 of my friends know.
All 3 have a username.

From the information I know, none of them ever come on anymore.
I'm glad.

I don't mind one of them coming on, but I perfer not to have the others.
I realized after I told them, I made a mistake.

There are 2000 kids at my high school. & they are probably the LEAST judging bunch I have ever been around. I actually believe the more people that are thrown together, there is more diversity, and everybody can have there thing, you know? I mean yeah, there are a few that are ridiculed, but most don't really care. Most people I know would rather get to know somebody, than to sit there and tease and ridicule.

All my friends from school know I come on here, because in second period we are always in the computer lab and this is what I do :rotfl: . Along with listening to the mouseworld radio. I hum along to the MK opening music everyday. haha, I actually have become really good friends with a girl in one of my classes because I mentioned something about the Dis and how it is such a good site for disney fans.

I guess I have just reached the point where if people don't like me for what I do/what I like they are not really worth my time. I am not rude, or mean, but if I like coming on here and talking about all things Disney, then that is my business. hahaha. :)

My mama knows.
That's because she also has an account.
I haven't told any of my friends; not because I'm "embarrassed" per sey but because people just wouldn't get it. Well not my friends. They'd probably be like, "Those aren't teenagers your talking to. They are old men. They are going to find you and rape you." Stuff like that, and I honestly don't want to hear it from them.

My friends know that I am active on several online communities. (Gaia, DIS, etc.) They also know that I have several good friends online.

omg billy has gaia. O.O

but, OT,yeah, my friends know. and they really couldnt care. lol ive even referred to of them on here, and the others are already on other online forums. its not exactly weird to have online friends or know a lot of online people with my group.

I do that too!!!

I don't feel I would be judged by it. I know people who go to message boards. My brother met his best friend on a message board! And my mom knows about the DIS too. I just don't want my friends to know when I'm talking about them (I'm terrible...I know).

My mom knows since she goes on here...
But only like 3 of my friends at school know and I would really only call one of them my friends anymore....
But I have a facebook and thats where I talk to my friends mostly...

oh my mom and brother know about it too. I talk about all the hints and strategies with my mom, and I am like "I learned this on my disney site haha" She then proceeds to tell everyone I am on here constantly. Really only for like an hour or two everyday. Thats not bad right :confused3 haha.

My closest from a few years ago know. I mention it a lot in school, but I think my friends I made last year are starting to understand.

matt reads over my shoulder sometimes if we're together. he thinks its cool, but not a message board person. he'd rather just vicariously dis through me. he knows some of your names too. he likes the syf thread.

i tell him a lot of stories about you guys too. haha. i always start it with, "so my online-friend _______, ..." haha.
