Do your friends know about the dis?

I'm afraid of my friends being like "***..? you know they are probably online predators"

or think you guys are all losers who have nothing better to do than to talk to computer friends.

*PLEASE DONT HATE ME FOR SAYING THIS* & i know that they would think that because i used to think that before i joined. but now i know its not like that at all.

even if they werent going to judge it i wouldnt tell anybody.
I need a place where i can rant about my life without anybody from my RL reading it.

i am already paranoid about people finding the dis!

My friends do not know about the DIS. I don't want them to. They would never join, but then they'd read some things and maybe they wouldn't be happy with what they read. They kind of piss me off sometimes, and Ineed to say it somewhere.

My friend (no one else) knows I have one online friend, but she doesn't know from where.. so yeah.

That reminds me of another reason why I don't tell my friends.
The DIS has become an outlet for me to vent about RL friend problems. I don't want them to come on here and then accidently read something I posted when I was mad at them and venting.
So I'm being selfish and not telling them about it, because I'm sure a couple friends would love to join here.

Me too! That happened to me the week before winter break. xD

My ex-bff knows about this place, and made an account but never came on. I don't tell my friends about what internet sites I visit, and I probably would never tell them about the DIS since it's kind of my relax place. If I knew my friends from school were on here, I'd think twice about a lot of the stuff I post on here.

Same. One of my "friends" who I rarely talk to anymore made an account on here. She never posted. She's too busy with all of her other friends. She only talks to me when she has no one else to talk to.

And of course my parents know about the DIS, my mom has an account. My dad's not that much of a disney person, well not enough to make an account. I have met a few people at WDW, but they were from the old VMK board. My friends would be like "Do you know how old these people are?! Are you sure they're not creepy stalkers?!" Or either that they just wouldn't care. My mom told my counselor that I go on here. She lied and said she met all of them so she wouldn't seem like a bad parent for letting me talk to people I haven't met. I felt really ashamed of her. I mean, my closest DIS friends I've talked to on the phone and a few have webcams so I'm 100% sure they're not creepy old perverted people.

That reminds me. My parents always tell my family about the DIS, too. "Allison has many Internet friends." I don't like that term "Internet" friends.

I just decide not too.
Plus, i like to rant here about them, i don't need them seeing it.

i have told my friends
they call it disneyfreaks.com and laugh but w/e
my parents laugh when i say i have online friends but they truely dont care
i have only met 1 DISer (Jessie) and i have seen a diser

I don't really talk about my online friends to my RL friends, like Laura said, if I am ever talking about anything you guys have said or whatever I'm like "...this girl/guy i know" lol.

I have a REALLY close friend that I met on neopets, and I've met her in RL twice already and she's coming to visit me in a few weeks, and only like 2 of my friends know I met her from neopets, the rest I just say "my friend from michigan..."

My friends automatically think that any person on the internet is an old creeper. So I don't tell them. Besides, there is no way I would want them to read some of the stuff I post here. I need a place to vent when I'm mad at them, ya know?

I've met a few of you guys at WDW, and I used to text and aim with the closer members. So I know that most of you are real live teenagers.

Whenever I talk about something I heard here, I'll usually just say "My friend from (insert state), blahblah." Or whatever. If they asked, I wouldn't lie though.

I love you guys because I can tell you anything that's on my mind without fear of judgement.

Nah I don't really tell anyone. I'm not embarrassed or anything, but there's no real reason to bring it up. I am not really close with anyone here, but I like to post and read the stuff not only on the teen board, but also on the Theme Park board when I'm planning a trip. So I don't really talk about what you guys say or anything, but I do share the tips on the parks and stuff with my family who know I'm on here. But I wouldn't be embarrassed, I do my own thing and I'm sort of shocked you guys are embarrassed or ashamed of something you claim to love so much.

They know I'm a disney freak and when I'm talking about the DIS, I just say "On one of my disney boards, someone said..." or "The teen section had a funny thread..." or "I thought ..... was interesting, have you heard about it? I read about it on my disney site?"

Most of you guys are from places my friends know I've never been, or wouldn't have met anyone from there. It'd be hard to explain. I just say 'My friend' or 'someone' but usually not with close friends because then they'd be like 'WHO?'
It's just annoying. The other night I told my friend I was talking to a girl from Tennessee (Shelby lol) and she was like 'Oh right, that old friend you met on your trip to Tennessee.'
Not funny.
