Do your cats chase bugs?

I have two Cats, Turtle is about 14, she doesn't chase anything. Roo is 1.5, she loves chasing bugs, flys, mice, whatever, but the funny thing is, while she terrorizes the poor things, she doesn't catch them, ever, she could if she wan't to, but she just likes chasing them around

lol. Mine eats what she catches. Cept for moths. Them she just hurts enough so they cant quite fly away and then chases them around.

Well, I have 5 cats, but sadly, only 2 of them are currently living "bug catchers", lol (I don't like bugs, especially spiders, which are their specialties :teeth: ) The first cat I ever got was Binx...he's about 4 now and he just looooves chasing bugs around the house. If he finds one, he'll crouch down and get into pounce mode, and he waits 'til the little critter moves...he is so patient, that I think that if the bug didn't move for days, he wouldn't either :rotfl:
And even though he is currently "in training", I believe my newest kitten, Cody, will grow up to be a fine bug catcher as well. Once he develops a longer attention span, that is :rolleyes2

We had a cat that loved to chase/eat flies. It was great, no need for fly swatters! He would make the funniest sound when going after them, too.

Several of mine do. A few even think they make a tasty snack. YUK! Last night we had a baby toad on our back porch and 3 of them were eyeing it. I said no way, and picked the poor thing up and put it outside.

What really gets them going is when one of these cute little frogs we have here sticks itself to our front window at night. They have suction cup feet so that they can walk along the windows. Drives the cats nuts! I swear the frogs are looking at us while we're looking at them.

Greta was stalking an ant last night. I had to scoop up the poor little fella and deposit him outside before she killed him.

My two cats team up on poor bugs! One will catch it and chew on it just a bit, then spit it out. The other will then pick it up, chew it, spit it out.

This goes on for about 10 minutes until there is nothing left to spit out. We always laugh because the bugs must be so confused! They just go back and forth and back and forth.

Oh yes, I have two cats that love bugs. Moths, flys, anything that they can knock around for awhile and eat once they catch it.

Figaro does chase things, but then gets bored and goes to sleep. He does catch mice sometimes though as we have a field at the side of our house (we live n a very safe area for animals so the cats can go out if they want to, but they usually just stay home.) Cheeky (as you can probably tell from the picture in my signature) is too lazy and generally can't be bothered!!

yes mine love it and usually find the bugs just before bed so they are running up and down the steps all night going after the thing

chase AND catch

Of course they usually end up knocking over whatever gets in their way!

Did I mention they that they will play with it for awhile and then eat it? :cat:

Sammy, the gigantic, lazy cat, is the best fly catcher I have ever seen. He calls them down to him by chirping at them, and then he snatches them from mid-air. Then he has a tasty snack.

He also sits in the windows and chirps at the birds. :paw:

Denae

Yep, and they will nock over anything and everything to get to them. Then they eat it! Crunch...crunch... :faint: :crazy2:

In his younger days, Simba would jump in the air after flies. Now he just sits and watches them, unless they come to him. :teeth:

Same with my Chester. Everytime I hear Toby Keith's song "I'm Not As Good As I Once Was", I think of Chester and bug chasing. :rotfl:

I've got one for your cat to chase. I was sitting next to my garden yesterday, and this bug the size of a locust fell down on my arm from the trees. It was shaped like a brown leaf, with a tuft on it's head! It must have been atleast a few inches! I've got to look it up and see what it is! :earseek:

No but my dog does. She just loves it when a fly gets into the house. It entertains her the whole day!

She has flown across the room, destroying everything in her path to get it.

My cat is flipping out chasing a moth. Sad thing is, this will probably go on for hours, as the moth has figured out staying on the ceiling is in his best interests. ;)

Yes the new kitten does this all the time. And she doesn't care what is in her way. We have had several broken vases since we got the kitten. She will keep going as long as the moth is flying.
One track mind.

My cats will cry at a bug that they can't reach- for hours! Sometimes there will be a spider, but they only PLAY with them! I will they would KILL the darn things!

Ever blow bubbles for a cat? Its fun!
