Do you wrap Santa presents?

My DH says I am crazy, but here is what I do with wrapping presents. Did I say DH loves it even though he thinks I’m nuts.

No gift is wrapped in the same paper (unless it is going to a friend or being mailed out). Why? I don’t like to have any of the same paper under the tree. It sounds strange, but WOW it looks so cool. I buy a few (2-3) rolls of paper each year (after Christmas). I have two wrapping paper (upright) plastic holders (the kind you find in Target). I take the cardboard tube out of some of the rolls and roll them up smaller so they fit inside each other. I can have as many as four rolls inside one tube of another roll. With that said, I have at least 60 different types of paper each year. I have adult paper and children paper and a child will never get an adult paper as well as an adult will never get a childs paper. I know this sounds crazy, but it really does look great to have all different paper under the tree.

About Santa… he only wraps in his Santa paper (again all different). I have child and adult Santa paper because Santa always brings mommy and daddy a present also. The only gifts that are not wrapped would be bikes or big things like that. Also he has special gift tags (made off the computer) with his picture on it and the person's name on with a Love, Santa.

Is anyone else nuts like me?

All presents were left unwrapped, and the items in the stocking were wrapped and said to be from Mommy & Daddy...

Now that she is 8, last year we wrapped them as a surprise and she said next year she was going to write Santa and tell him it was a good idea to wrap them as she was so SURPRISED ! LOL
I loved it kowing I don't have many years left of her still believing !

I love Christmas

Yes, Santa wraps our presents unless it's something big like a bike, a doll house, or big stuff animal.

Daddy puts them together after they're opened.

That's how it was when I was little too. It's just so magical to see all the wrapped presents and watch them open each of them.

My husbands family didn't wrap, mine did. I win, and I get to do all the wrapping! Learned the hard way the first year and now take the time to put everything together before wrapping. Also take all those lovely packing tapes, ties and twists off and unsew the Barbie's hair before I wrap! Saves alot of time Christmas morning. Also do alot of toys in gift bags rather than wrapping in paper.

Santa has always wrapped in his own special paper at my house. If it was something that had to be put together like the little tykes cars etc when he was little, we put it together and then wraped it!!

With an only child all the stuff was piled together on the floor with the stocking on top, stuff in it wrapped too!! Now that he is older the size of the stuff he wants is smaller and the cost higher but we still do the same thing. He wants an air hockey table this year so it might be the first unwraped thing ever from santa!!

I love this thread and would love to see one on Christmas traditions, might get one started....

We also use special "Santa Paper" and wrap everything. The surprise and mystery of coming down the stairs and seeing wrapped presents is very cool! If the girls could see what everything was it would take away some of the excitement!?

Santa wraps with paper only santa has and my dd never sees that paper. We also us special computer printed labels so there is no hand writting.

Santa doesn't wrap in our house, he has everything put together and perfectly posed. (DH spends HOURS ensuring that the giant Barbie is playing with the train etc...) Only Santa presents are opened on Christmas morning...all others are done Christmas Eve.

For those of you whose house Santa doesn't wrap at, what do you do in the AM? Just look around and start playing with the toys? I just can't wrap my wrapping head around this!!

Just very interested.

Santa wraps everything in our house. Complete with ribbons and bows and a small trinket attached to each package. Also, everything in the stockings are wrapped. Whoever finds the Christmas pickle on the tree (a German thing) gets to open the first gift, then they choose a gift for someone else to open. It makes Christmas morning so enjoyable. Our kids are 20 and 17 and we have always done it this way.

we have always had Santa bring a big gift......bike, guitar, etc. so it's easy just leave it by the milk and cookies ....our old house we had a fire place. if the gifts are smaller we'd wrap in paper only from Santa, which proably had santa on it..... the rest of the presents are from mom and dad and are wrapped. does this make sense??

Santa is too busy to wrap presents...he barely has time to jam stuff in the stockings before heading out to his next destination! :rotfl2: He does leave a thank you note for the cookies, though.

I grew up with unwrapped=Santa, wrapped=family, so we knew whom to thank. DH grew up with it all being from Santa and wrapped, so I had to convert him. Our living room closes off completely w/ doors, so no one is allowed in until mom's had a chance to go in and take pictures (then get pics of the first reactions!)

Stockings are stuffed with unwrapped goodies and are admired hanging from the mantle while I pull breakfast together (how long does it take to throw a box of powdered donuts on the table? ;)), then they are opened after we eat and do our Bible reading/candles. That gives me time to clear up a bit and go take the photos of the tree.

We wrap them although a few years ago when the kids were about 3 & 5 they asked why Santa used the same wrapping paper and name tags as mommy & daddy?! Duh! Did I ever feel stupid and never made that mistake again. Kids are so smart!

Santa wraps each child's gifts in different paper. I have 3 kids, so dd10 always gets red paper, dd7 gets green and ds4 gets blue. I usually get it at Party city-they have pretty cute designs and are pretty cheap. The big things(a bike, dollhouse) are set up and waiting for them. So fun to read everyones different traditions!

In our house Santa gifts are left out unwrapped on display for each child. Stocking gifts are wrapped. We put 3 gifts in the stocking only, to represent the 3 gifts that the Christ child received. The kids, 18,15,4 and 9mo (Santa's gift last year, her birthday is Dec. 30), love our traditions. Anyone else making a dent on their Christmas shopping? With the exception of stockings, I'm almost through...yippy!

Santa doesn't wrap at our house. Only gifts from mommy, daddy and other people are wrapped.

I didn't read all posts, so forgive me if this has been posted........but I think it might be a "northern" thing to wrap, and a "southern" thing not to wrap?? No flaming please, just a global observation.
I grew up in NY state, as did most of my relatives, and we always had all presents wrapped, even from Santa. Fast forward 30 years to my husbands (born and raised in TN) and my first Christmas with our firstborn and he thinks I'm crazy for wanting to wrap our sons presents. When I started asking around to my friends and in-laws in Tennessee---they never wrapped presents from Santa. :confused3

I always wrap everyones gift in their own paper. Each child has a different paper, and each family has a different paper. It makes it much easier to keep track of things that way. I never have to use tags on the Santa gifts, because we pile the wrapped gifts in piles with the stocking on top. I knew the kids would peek, so if they didn't have tags, they wouldn't know whose was whose!

With extended family, I use the same paper for each family, that way its easier to pack up and deliver them. I know all the tree packages go to my family, the stocking packages go to DHs family, the snowflakes go to school......

Mommy wraps in Christmas paper that DOESN'T have Santa on it... and Santa's helpers wrap his presents with paper that has Santa on it... :flower:

Santa wraps presents in our house. With three boys they all get different paper. We give them presents from Mommy and Daddy Christmas Eve.

When my oldest DS was 2 my DSIL informed me that I should not wrap our presents and Santa's in the same paper. I never thought of it. :confused3 DUH. So we have lots of different paper.
