Do you work out during your trip?

I do a lot of walking, quite a bit of swimming, and a few 12oz. curls.

This thread really doesn't discuss theme parks attractions and strategies and is better suited for our W.I.S.H. board. So I've moved it. :)

When I am there by myself, I used to take 5am walks around the lake by PC cause that was when i got up.

Now that I am married and there with my wife, I fall out of bed, crawl and stumbel my way to the food area, get her breakfast and drink and balance it back to the room. I count that as exercise before we go to the parks. :-)

(in reality though I am still usually up before her as she doesn't hit the park until 11. Since we stay at BLT, I will get up and take a walk to and around MK which is plenty of exercise, just in a "fun" environment).

And of course if my kid is there, you can include swimming as exercise as well.

I've lost nearly 130 pounds, and whenever I go to WDW, I try to keep my bulimia out of my mind as much as possible. So no.. I don't exercise on my vacation other than the tons of walking I do in the parks. Exercising is a surefire way for me to start thinking about calories and weight and purging. I just want to be normal in Disney!! I know some exercise is normal and healthy, but I know I'll go overboard. Why not just stick to the hours and hours of being on my feet? That's good activity in itself!

And yes, I do actually make an effort to eat whatever I feel like eating (while still making an effort to get a good amount of veggies and fruits in). My last trip in May I had a cheeseburger and fries for almost every meal because they tasted so amazing. And don't even get me started on Disney's cookies and cream fudge. :P

I work out by walking all around the parks. And then I eat. And then I walk around again.

I plan on trying to find somewhere to run when we are there in January. I have never run at the world when we have vacationed there so not sure how or where to run!

I do know I am going to use the gym equipment when I am on my cruise next month. I have recently started back at my weight loss and have lost 12 lbs (12 more to go before the cruise!) and I don't want to gain a lot back while on the ship. Between my supplement that basically takes away my appetite (and gives me MASSIVE energy) and working out, I hope to come back the same weight or less on both trips!

I walk/run around 5-6 miles a day at home, and since our resort does not have gym facilities, I usually just consider my walk in the parks as my exercise. I know, of course, that is not the same as my heart rate is not increased, and it is not a steady pace, but I don't think that iI could get up to run/walk around the resort and still face the parks too!

Thank you so much for this thread. I am doing the 3 day breast walk (60 miles in 3 days) and my training is right in the middle of our WDW vacation. I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking of exercising while on vacation. Staying at CSR due to the gym. Was wondering in 5-8 miles the average one walks at the parks?

thank you!! :cool1:

I've lost 40 pounds on weight watchers, back in 2007 after i gave birth to my little one was when i joined. Exercising is a big part of it for me, especially keeping it off. At Disney, we walk so much in the parks and are so drained at the end of each park day that I don't do an extra exercise those days. But we stay 10 days total and take two days off from the parks. In those days, I work out. We stay in a 1-bedroom at BWV, so I bring my workout DVDs and pop one in and do it in the living room. I also bring a resistance band since it takes up such little space in the suitcase and weighs next to nothing. So on those days without a park, I do a short resistance DVD and a short cardio DVD.

On my Carnival cruise this summer, I worked out in the gym every other day. We also took the stairs everywhere instead of the elevators. We eat what we want on vacation but we watch what we eat otherwise. I'm even careful on holidays and I count my points. Sure, I use all of my weekly points on holidays but I stay within the program. But my annual vacation is my time to really take and break and splurge. :goodvibes
