Do you wish there was an adult's only restaurant at DW?

Disney cruise line has it right, one word...Palo. It is a truly awesome experience. I have three children, (now teens), and I couldn't imagine them not being with us at all our meals, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to go to at least one restaurant with no little kids or babies in the background? I know there is Victoria and Albert's, but we all know that the price is out of most of our ranges. We're staying at AKL in April, I wish something like Jiko was adult only. What do you think?

I don't have children and have been many times to Disneyland and WDW.We eat at a varity of restaurants including a few of the nicer ones. I expect there to be kids at all of the restaurants and I don't recall there ever being any major melt downs nearby or many other problems with kids...that I can rememebr. But I think and nice adults only restaurant would be fine. I would probably go, depending on the menu...as long as I didn't have to put on a suit coat! :)

No. I guess if you wanted to spend some time without children you could go to PI. I have not been in awhile, but I understand they have some over 18 only clubs. Personally, I would not go to an adults only restaurant.

We don't have kids and while I certainly expect kids to be at WDW, I agree it would be nice to have a restaurant for adults only.

WDW is a magical place for people of all ages and I think it would be nice if adults had a nice place to go enjoy themselves with time away from kids and noise (even time away from rowdy adults!) Sometimes I just enjoy being grown up and without kids and that's fun for me. I would imagine there are many parents out there too who might enjoy a night out alone as a special treat even on vacation.

I kind of doubt a "child free" restaurant will ever happen at WDW though - but I could be wrong.

Personally, I would make multiple ADRs at an adults only resteraunt. DH and I have no children, and while I expect them at Disney, I do need a break from being around them all day long. The energry that little children put out is overwhelming, sometimes you just need a breather. I don't always want to go back to the hotel room for a break, it would be nice to have a sit down place to do that also. Pleasure Island might have places that are 18and over, but they're not sit down resteraunts.

I do think a better solution would be to have true lounges attached to resteraunts where under 21 is not allowed. No if ands or buts. This is common in every city that I've been to, there's even those little signs about 21 and under not allowed in because, oh, it's the law. In the area we live, most of them all have a full menu available from the sit down area also to order from in the lounge. Whenever we go out, we always request to sit in the lounge, specificially because we've had screaming children in our ears way to many times. But then again, one has to wonder why a two year old is to dinner at 9pm anyway.

V&A is not an adults only place, there's not a kids menu, so it should be a hint to parents to leave them with a babysitter, but not everyone gets the hint.

And flame on.

I have a 5 year old son that I love more than life itself..but when DH and I go on a "date" we always go to an "adults only" resturant. Now, it's NOT a written RULE that's it's adults only..but it's an understood rule. It's a very nice, SMALL authentic Italian resturant . They do not have a child's menu (No chicken fingers and fries to be had!!!) and it's small and quite, so it's kind of understood that small children probably wouldn't enjoy themselves there. We have seen very well behaved older children (preteenish)there but never any under the age of say 10. We enjoy this adult interaction and it would be a nice addition to WDW. However, I don't think it will ever come to pass unless it's at one of the outlying resorts. I really wouldn't expect them to anyway...I mean..it is Disney. It's when we all turn into kids again! right!!

BTW..we HAVE enjoyed V&A before (on our honeymoon) I can't imagine bringing a small child in there. Who is crazy enough to do that???

btw..I'm also a pediatric nurse. Have been for almost 9 years now. so, I'm with kids 24/7..at home or work! I love 'em..but I can "tune them out" very easily!!

I didn't think that anyone would bring kids there either, but when we went in April there was Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad and two little girls.

The meal took too long and the girls fell asleep. The mom was trying to rock her sleeping child (Dad may have had the other one) and juggle her food at the same time. In no way did it deter from our experience, but I felt kind of bad for the mom. (From the looks of it, grandma and grandpa were taking everyone out to dinner)

Oh Wow!! I feel bad for them now. I can't imagine having 1 small child there, must less 2! I know my son would go stir crazy.

Yes, I have kids and would love an adults only rest. at WDW.

DH and I would love an adults only restaurant. I realize PI is for adults, but as the other poster said, they have no nice sitdown restaurants. Also, as I crawl my way towards the age of 50 (kicking and screaming) I must admit I do not really enjoy the loud younger crowd that you find at PI. We have never been to V&A (my DH is allergic to suit jackets, lol) but have been to Fultons, Narcosees, Yachtsman...several times, and sometimes enjoy the more adult atmosphere for a late night dinner while on vacation.
PS. Shula's (at the Dolphin) seems to be 95% adult, escpecially from 8pm and later.

I probably wouldnt go just for the fact that it is an adult only restaurant. It would depend on the food and location.

When I get a night out without my kids, other kids around me do not bother me at all. As long as Im not the one having to say "stop that, lower your voice, don't hit your brother, dont put your fingers in your food, use a napkin not your pants...." I don't care what other kids are doing. I don't pay attention.

I go to Palo on the ship for the food.

OH PLEASE MAKE IT SO!!! Pray to the Disney Gods and maybe, just maybe dreams will come true!!!

Really though, V&A is the closest you'll get. Wanna be sure? Get the Chef's Table!!

1) Sure, I wish they had 1-2 adult dining spots.
2) However, if they keep it expensive and don't allow DDP, it works the same.
3) Well, almost.
4) You seldom see kids at V&A or Bistro.

I agree...last time we went to V&A there were two little kids beside us. it would be different if they behaved well...but they did NOT! NO way would I take my child there!

OMG I would be ticked. Ill behaved children should not be in V&A. It is a very quiet atmosphere, you are spending a lot of money for whole package.

And yes, I wish there was a adults only restaurant. :thumbsup2

yeah, and it was our wedding day:sad2: !

I love Palo!! DCL is the best:love: adult only pool, adult only restaurant, and adult only beach:cool1: :cloud9:

I really don't care if it's adult only or not, I would just like some quieter places (it's not always the children who are noisy). We do V&A and Bistro each trip and those usually provide us with some quiet time. And if I was ever at V&A with ill-behaved people (children or adults) I would be complaining up a storm.

I don't think adults only would be more quiet or peaceful. I find myself surrounded by plenty of adults far louder and disruptive than any children- and find thier behavior much less easy to excuse.
I have no problem with children in any restuarant, chances of being aggravated are no more or less than at an adults only restuarant.

ITA with your entire post, so no flames from us!

We would love to have a peaceful meal at a WDW restaurant without having to deal with children who are exhausted and parents who are clueless to the fact that their children might need to either dine earlier or get the rest they need.

We have tried to dine at V&As many a time only to have to children who cannot handle 3 hour meals.
