Do you wear shoes when you clean house?

I don't even like wearing socks!

Yes, but only because I feel less relaxed, and thus less likely to slack off/take breaks. When I put on my shoes to clean, I mean business.

Otherwise, I am nearly always barefoot or just in houseshoes.

Once in a while I will. Or if I have to go out soon I will. Today I put them on but didn't have to leave untill noon. Boy, what energy I get. I get more done if I wear shoes.

Is that the reason, so that you won't feel the urge to relax? Very clever, I will have to try it sometime. I am definitely one who will slack if I have no deadline...I will do one thing, check the net, do another thing, call a friend...it's so bad.

I do. Maybe if we had carpet I'd go shoeless/sockless but I do not like walking across our tile/hardwood barefoot.

i hate shoes and i hate socks too.......which is really tough in the state i live in during winter months................it was 43 today here.......bare feet weather for me!!!!!
oh and to answer the orig ? nope no shoes when i clean but, we also have the no shoes in the house rule anyways..........but that is another thread, hehe

We don't wear shoes inside the house ever. We do wear slippers and other soft-soled footwear, and that's what I wear when I clean. I used to just wear socks, but I hate stepping in a puddle of water and having wet socks! I don't mind if I step in the water with bare feet, but it annoys me if I'm wearing socks. So I wear slippers when I clean, except during the very hottest days when I go barefoot.

I have a feet thing....ummmmm..I love to expose mine, even when it's below 60 here....I have to wear open shoes.....to work that is....so no....my feet are naked while I clean house!

Yep. I don't know- I guess I just feel more prepared? It's like getting ready to work out. I couldn't work out in my pajamas. I have to put on my workout clothes- right down to my tennis shoes, to put me in that frame of mind. If I'm hanging out in my clothes and no shoes, then it's relaxing and slacking time!!

Several years ago I worked for a direct sales cosmetics company. One main rule for that company was that you could not make a single phone call in the morning unless you were totally dressed all the way to dress shoes. The reason behind this duty was that you act differently when you have clothes and shoes on. You are more professional. The customer can tell when you don't feel good about the way you look. So, if getting dressed makes that big of an impression on someone that can't even see you, then what is it going to do to those who can see you. Mainly yourself.

Many stay at home moms (SAHM's) are guilty of not seeing the need to get dressed all the way to the shoes. They figure, since only their children will be seeing them, why bother? Well, I am here to tell you, that you will be amazed at the difference in your attitude about yourself, your children, and your home when you feel good about how you look. I don't want to hear, "I don't wear shoes in my house". Well you do now. Buy or clean up a pair just for that reason. - FlyLady

I'm still not wearing shoes--and she does mean the lace up kind (or dress shoes).

But not slippers and flip flops.

Flip flops are my friend!

I do. I really find that Flylady makes excellent points and I tend to follow along with what she says. I get so much done with the shoes on. I'm a SAHM, and wearing shoes is really important to get the mindset that I'm ready for the day.

I'm a real tenderfoot; I can barely walk without shoes of some kind. Unless I'm in the shower or in bed I will not be barefoot!

The fly lady's crazy...

I followed her rules for about a month and then adapted them to fit my lifestyle. SHOES didn't make it past day one. In my house, with my family (not guests) shoes should be off and put away under the bench. They track in snow, mud & dirt, mat down the rugs and make the cats paranoid about being stepped on

I do like a shiny sink though!

I even take my shoes off at work when I am sitting at my desk. I take them off as soon as I walk in my house. I love to be barefoot. It does not make a difference in my productivity.

If I want to really concentrate on cleaning, I just turn on music.

Even before I was introduced to flylady, I ALWAYS wore shoes when cleaning. It's the same with pajamas, I have to be fully dressed when I'm home or I just feel lazy and unproductive.

What's funny is that I hate to be barefoot during the day, but I simply CANNOT sleep in socks. Weird, huh?
