Do You Wear Perfume?

I do believe that the aromatherapy people are really onto something because scent does have a strong affect upon my emotions. Yet I am reluctant to wear the fragrances that have a positive influence upon my mood because I know that so many people either have allergies or think that they do.

Do you wear perfume? Which ones do you like and why? Do you think that it is rude to do so?

I don't wear perfume due to asthma and allergies, none of it imagined. (How I wish!) As a child, I remember both my parents got headaches from perfume and it looks as if I inherited the curse. Something like a scented candle sucks the breath out of me (that's the best way to describe it) and brings on an instant asthma attack.

It's not realistic to expect everyone to stop wearing perfume....I'd be happy of those who practically take a bath in it would practice a little moderation. :scared1: I'd like to see them before I smell them. :lmao:

I don't wear perfume because DH is really sensitive to smells.

I think that wearing ALOT of perfume is rude but a little bit is ok.

I don't. I wear deodorant with a cotton scent (or fresh linen maybe?) and thats it.

Yes I do wear perfume but I try not to bathe in it! :rotfl: Certain scents bother me as well, so I try to be careful not to use too much!

No, but I do wear body sprays. I don't bathe in it tho, I just use a couple of sprays and that's it. I can be sensitive to smells too so I try not to overdo it. But I do wear something every day.

I adore perfumes. I collect them like they're going out of style. And, no I do not think it is rude to wear them. I think it is rude to practically BATHE in them.

I have so many that I love I could never name them all but a few are:

Tea Rose by the Perfumer's workshop
Laundromat by Demeter
Funeral Home by Demeter
Laila from Norway in Epcot
Inis an Irish perfume

Yes I do. I am attracted to crisp, clean scents and a sweet floral scent. I don't wear a lot (just one spray) because I personally hate it when other people wear so much you can smell them clear across the room, and the smell lingers after they are gone.

JLo Glow
Britney Spears Believe
Bath and Body Works Butterfly Flower
Bath and Body Works Sea Island Cotton
Bath and Body Works Forever Sunshine
Sunflowers

I love perfumes. I wear them sparingly. I dont care for walking by a person and smelling them for miles. A few favorites are:

D&G Light Blue
BLV - Bulgari
Channel - Chance
Lovely - SJP
Euphoria - CK
Ed Hardy - Christian Audigier
Very Hollywood - Micheal Kors

Perfumes inspire my mood. :)

No, I don't personally wear perfume. If people can smell you from far away and comment on it when you enter a room, you are wearing too much, and, yes, it's rude. You are intruding on the space of others. If you smell nice when they hug you, you're not intruding.

There's nothing wrong with wearing a little bit of perfume. However, wearing a little bit, you probably won't really smell it except when you are putting it on or if you put it someplace like your wrist where you can hold it up to your nose.

I love perfume. Right now I've been wearing Curve Crush every day, but I also love Herve Leger, Baby Rose Jeans, Obsession, Chanel #5, and White Linen.

I prefer a woodsy or oriental scent, but I also love floral or clean scents as well.

I hate perfume. Hate wearing it and hate smelling it. I find it as obnoxious as foul body odor. It may be because my grandmothers both doused themselves in the stuff.

I use body spray every day, but only a quick spritz or two.

I've worn Heaven from Gap since 1996 (?) or so - it is my signature scent, I guess. :flower3:

Everyday.

My faves are:
Tuscany per Donna- Estee Lauder

Aromatix Elixir-Clinique

Coco Madamoiselle-Chanel

Cinnabar- Estee Lauder

I prefer the heavier fragrances; warm and cinnamony.

I don't find it rude at all.
Men who bathe in cologne annoy me, especially if it is a sweet smelling cologne but its not rude, not my preference maybe but not rude.
I love it when my DH or DS wear Polo Black.......love the smell of that one

I love body sprays - cucumber melon, cucumber lime or something citrus

I also like perfumes but don't wear them often:
Paris, Yves St. Laurent
Velocity, Mary Kay
Anything citrus - I have an assortment of them, especially lemon scents.

If not wearing a body spray or perfume I use papaya or mango body butters.

I am allergic...or technically...super sensitive so much so that I exhibit physical reactions such as sneezing, itching, and uncomfortable breathing....to synthetic floral scents. It is worse with perfumes as they are quite concentrated. But I have similar issues to candles, air fresheners, detergents, etc with synthetic floral scents.

BUT....
In general. I do not consider it rude for people to wear perfume. Smelling like you bathed in it...is rude. Noone should be able to ID which Chanel you are wearing from 50 feet away.

Essential oils IMHO are different. They come from actual plants and pretty much, unless the person has an allergy to the plant, they shouldn't be allergic to the smell of the essential oil. There are guidelines to consider as certain oils have limitations. I am not an aromatherapist, so I don't know what they are.

But as an example...I am allergic to azaleas, magnolias and the like. No idea if they have an essential oil...but if they did, I would be allergic.

I am not allergic to lavender. I can use product that uses it's essential
oils which is nice since it relaxes you.

I can't have fake lavender...so all those candles and crap that are fake...sneezy and itchy. Same deal with perfumes.

For perfumes, I have to use the ones that are more musk-y or spice smelling. Those synthetic scents don't give me any trouble.

Rule of thumb...you should only notice it on you when you apply it. Just because you can't smell it anymore, doesn't mean it is still there.

I am in search of a feminine perfume with a masculine scent that smells lovely without a hint of flower. If anyone has a suggestion--I
open.

Someone I met was wearing a new Women's Ralph Lauren scent. I was inacy's earlier this week, but no sample was out so that I could smell it in concentrated form. And no sales associate around. It smelled nice on the person wearing it...nice enough for me to check it out. But from 5 feet away. I did not react to it..so it passed my first test.

I have a problem with many perfumes because of asthma and migraines. Certain smells mean I'll be laying down waiting for my migraine med to work (and it doesn't always).
We have a fragrance free area at church, which often helps, but we also have people come in, read the signs and say, oh, I'm alright, I don't have much on. Which part of fragrance free don't they get. Can't you sit in one of the other 40 pews and leave this one to those of us who have difficulties with scents? I can sometimes tell who has come in the door at church, because their smell comes before them. I'll never understand, knowing that several people in our church have problems with scents, why people can't go one day without wearing perfume or after shave.
I really dislike those who comment to me, sorry, I do have perfume on, because I didn't have a chance to bathe. I also dislike those nurses in the doctor's office who have a lot of perfume on, knowing they are going to be close to patients who are sensative to the smells. I'm not happy when I try to watch a show, but people are wearing so much perfume (and refresh it at the middle break), that I have to leave.
That said, I understand that some people like a little perfume..but so many people don't seem to be able to smell it on themselves and wear so much of it. Some people's clothes get drenced with it.
Years ago, perfume had natural ingredients. Nowadays they seem to be filled with unpronounceable chemicals..and that gets put on our bodies :sad2:

O.K. I have to ask about one of your perfumes. What does Funeral home smell like (that is a really strange/creepy name for a perfume)? I imagine it would be floral scented but, I'm really curious because I have never heard of it.

OP to answer your question, yes sometimes I wear perfume. In the summer I definatley prefer body spray, something light and fresh smelling. I also love the perfume Laila from Norway it reminds me of Disney. I also wear my moms perfume (Obsession)but only on special occassions because she passed away last year and smelling it makes me feel like she is with us on special occassions/holidays. When I close my eyes and breathe deeply I feel like she is there.
