Do you wash your new clothes before wearing them?

I never do but after reading this thread I just might!

Umm... what are "the platelets of human skin"?

:lmao: Just the skin cells. They aren't round, but flat (platelets) & layered so stuff can't get under them as easily.

When applying moisturizer & lotions to the face, it's actually better to PAT the lotion so that it pushes down & absorbs in, rather than rubbing, which just makes it stay on the surface.

It depends. Most clothes, yes, but not socks and sometimes not pants.
And platelets are actually part of your blood, not skin cells. They help your blood clot.

:scratchin Hmm, maybe I'm using the wrong word. But, I had learned that the upper layer of skin cells are shaped flat and layered in such a way, like scales, so stuff can't easily penetrate when rubbed across skin.

The only 'new' clothes I ever wash before wearing are ones that come from a thrift shop or consignment shop. When I buy new clothes from a regular store I never wash them first. Honestly, it never occured to me until I had kids and my MIL kept talking about 'how importatant' it is to wash everything first. Not that I listened to her..

actually your skin cells are continously sloughing off, thats they way skin is regenerated. when you try on anything or wear anything, your skin cells are being scraped off by the clothing (including any dirt, lotion, deoderant etc) that has been applied or encountered.

If you buy something "off the rack" you may be encountering those cells of the previous person that tried it on.

why do you think they make you wear a footsie stocking when you try on shoes? to keep that stuff out of the new shoes!

not to mention the chemicals that other posters have noted that the cloth is treated with.
