Disney is supposed to be building a new Star Wars hotel soon. Very fancy, very immersive, and costs $1000 per night or more. I'm planning to stay there when it opens. For a couple nights as a once in a life time experience.

I also want to see Disney build a value Star Wars hotel similar to the Pop Century or All Stars, but instead of a big Mickey statue, you get an R2D2. Instead of fussball player statues, you get stormtropper ones. Have a painting of Luke and the twin suns in each room. Something that will cost no more than the Pop Century to build, but will still provide an excellent Star Wars experience for less than $200 a night. Then more people can afford to live in a Star Wars hotel and I can stay there any time I want.

They can create the value Star Wars hotel either by building a new hotel, or remodel one of the All Stars -- they can call it the All Star Wars!

It's like I can buy a $30 Star Wars shirt, but I can also get a $10 one at Walmart. The $10 isn't as nice, but it's still Star Wars.

Does anybody else want an affordable Star Wars hotel? (I'm not saying Disney will build a value SW hotel; but if they did, would you want to stay there?)

No, I’m not a fan, but I’m replying to say that it’s a futile thing to wish for if they have enough guests willing to pay big bucks for the immersive experience.

Now, if they run into problems not filling the rooms, you might get a deep enough discount that you’re able to stay there. That is a more likely scenario because they are not going to build two Star Wars resorts. It’s been close to 50 years in operation, and they haven’t built a value version of the Polynesian yet.

I don't really want one. I'm kind of ambivalent about Star Wars. But if they made a Star Wars themed value resort, sure, I'd stay there. We like the values.

I think it would be awesome! Not going to happen I'm sure, but it would be cool.

I'm not into the Star Wars franchise, although I enjoyed the original 3 films, so no. And it's really unlikely that Disney would undercut bookings at an expensive Star Wars hotel by offering bookings at a cheaper Star Wars hotel. They're banking on fans & parents of fans saving up for & spending to stay at the expensive, Star Wars themed resort. So to create a cheaper version, as well, would make no economic sense to them & is not going to happen.

Nope. And there is no possible way I'm paying that kind of money to stay in any other resort!!!! If I'm paying that, I'm staying at a truly deluxe resort, with a ton of wonderful amenities!!!

I voted 'no'.
DH is a huge Star Wars nerd (in a good way), and I know that eventually we'll want to come back and check out the new Star Wars land and hotel. However, I know us well enough to know that we prefer the amenities that come with moderate and deluxe hotels.

Completely agree. If I were to spend that amount of money for a resort I would expect the amenities and activities to be top notch and would use them to the fullest. When I go to Disney and stay onsite the hotel is not where I spend the majority of my time.

No, I don't think so.

We visited AoA to walk around when it first opened & I know that I would not be comfortable at a value resort - not for safety reasons or anything like that, but due to my personal preference for what I want my resort experience to be like.

I also feel like even a Star Wars "value" resort would be priced too high for families on a budget.

I should mention that according to rumors so far, you can't "check out" the new star wars hotel. You can't even go in there with an ADR. The whole thing is completely closed to people paying $1000+ per night.

The idea is that ever guy and their brother in law is going to cough up their life savings (or steal:rolleyes:) to come up with the $1000 a night to stay at the deluxe Star Wars hotel. Rumor says that each family will only be allowed to stay 2 nights at a time, no more, to make more room for the next family! Amazing, isn't it?

It wouldn't undercut it too much because the cheap experience is much less immersive, not near as amazing, so it's for the not as die hard fans who doesn't want to spend $1000 but still willing to spend $200 per night. It's the same way that the Grand Floridian isn't undercut too much by Pop Century even though they are both "staying on site." The new Star Wars hotel is rumored to give you food and clothes all day! You don't go anywhere those two days, you just play Star Wars! Seriously, you have to be an absolute Star Wars fan to put up with it. I personally was just going to stay in my room and not do any of the immersive stuff. I'll just come out and eat, that's all.

I am so sick of Star Wars everywhere. If everything has to be themed to an IP, I’d prefer some variety in the theming.
Hollywood Studios does seem to milk Star Wars quite a bit, and I've always thought that it looked tiring and I don't think it brought in a lot of visitors. Star tours doesn't seem to be a hot ride, judging from the wait times. However, the new Star Wars Land is called "Disney's license to print money." I remember reading about one guy who says that he will stay at Boardwalk when SWL opens because he figures that's where the line for entering SWL will start!

Yeah, there's a chance Disney will price it too high, but for under $200 a night, it will be cheaper than the AofA suites, and it should be doable for many -- at least more doable than $1000 a night! Well, that's if it's under $200 a night.

I love Star Wars but I'm tired of Disney going over the top all out on it. I feel they're ruining Disneyland by erasing much of frontierland in order to build Star Wars land. It's too much for me!
What? Frontierland got partly erased to build Star Wars Land? Oh, no! That's awful! I did not know that. I should have known -- where does Disneyland get the land for an expansion? I guess there's your answer. Oh well, at least it's only Disneyland (no offence.) I don't go there that much. If I did, that would be a huge disappointment.

Your response does make me wonder, how many people will be willing and able to pay $1000 a night for Star Wars theme? The idea is that people are going to storm the new Star Wars hotel and beg to pay more to get in there, but Star Wars Land is already going to be built, and one can have an immersive experience just walking around in there all day. Is it really necessary to pay $1000 a night to be in Star Wars at night too? Be interesting to find out.
