I am a 26yo female American. It is voting day here in FL. I plan to go to the poll at 6 or so tonight to cats my vote. Although I am not a registered Democrat, I still am able to vote in the local election for county reforendums...

So did anyone else recently do their civil duty and vote?

yes in general, i do. however, there have been times i have not voted in a particular race because i was not satisfied with any of the candidates. i refuse to vote for someone unless i actually believe that they are qualified for the job.

Yep, I voted "today". I sent my ballot back in a week or so ago, and it will be part of the Florida returns tonight.

NO! Politics are corupt.I do not need to vote it don't matter politicians all suck. There just here to take away more rights and send more jobs overseas and turnmore countried against us.

Yes I voted last Tuesday. Those new electronic machines were really nice too!

My personal opinion is if you don't exercise your right to vote, you shouldn't have any right to complain.

Yes. Use it or lose it!

We have a primary in July and then there's November. I really hate when people complain about their politicians and they never vote.

I hope jasminesmommy's post is a joke. If not, it is extremely sad that she would feel that way

Voting is such a privilege, and it shouldn't be taken lightly. There are many, many people in this world who are not as fortunate. We have a lot to be proud of in this country. Not only do those of us who are citizens and haven't been convicted of a felony have the right to vote, but our politicians, even with their flaws and no matter how ugly the elections sometimes are, graciously and orderly transfer power to the next winner.

ITA. We have our school board election next month and our primary in June.

Yes, I vote, and tar heel, I really liked your post--totally agree.

Yes, I vote! However, in the primaries I only vote if I have reviewed the candidates policies and am making an educated decision. In the general election, though, I will vote along party-lines if I'm not sure about particular candidates. I just don't have time to study everybody that's going to be on the ballot!

I'll be voting this evening as well!

I vote. And if I don't like any of the candidates, I write in someone else. Like the others said, if you don't vote, don't complain about things.

Not old enough to vote yet, but as soon as I am I will be voting. Dad dropped the bombshell this morning that he may run for selectman next year in town, so my first voting experience may be casting a vote for him. LOL. I agree that voting is an amazing privilege and we need to vote. I've grown up listening to my parents, grandparents, and uncle talk about politics, and know the stuff here in town better than most people, since my dad is already in town politics. Some people wait until they are older than 18 to vote, since they're not ready yet, but I can't wait. Even town issues are important to me.

i think the if you don't vote, don't complin thing is ridiculous. if i don't vote for candidate a or b because i don't like either of them, i can't complain, but if i write in howard stern, i can? seems sorta silly.

i agree that the right to vote is a great thing, but i think saying people who don't shouldn't complain is going a bit overboard.

::yes:: I definitely vote every chance I get...LOL! I agree, if you don't vote, don't complain. :p

I never said non-voters shouldn't complain. I just hate hearing them complain.

I vote AND complain!! :teeth:

I remember when my people did not have the full rights of voting. Today I consider it more than a right, it is a privilege.

Most of the time there is NO ONE who is totally my choice, but I vote the lesser of the evils. I stay abreast with where they stand on the issues that concern me personally and vote accordingly. I have worked for the electorate and have driven people to vote if they cannot get there. To me it's very important and will always be.
