Do you use your turn signal

I would say, in the city I will use my turn signal 98% of the time. There are a couple of roads that stop at a 3-way or 4-way stop and one of the roads continues, but to the right, not straight. I never use my turn signal there, because I am remaining on the same road. And I never use my turn signal when turning off my road.

Oh the highway, I rarely use my turn signal. I only use it if I am switching lanes and their is someone else in the other lane or I'm getting on the offramp and there are cars behind me.

My boyfriend is the complete opposite of me, uses turn signal on highway but not in city. HEHE

My dad got pulled over for a similar reason. He was turning onto an on ramp and he got pulled over. The officer was seeing if he was drunk. Where I live, if you get pulled over for something like that (no turn signal or light out) its because they want to catch a drunk.

I ALWAYS use my turn signal. Always. Even if there is no one else on the road with me or when I'm in my neighborhood where the streets are usually empty. It was a habit ingrained in me by my driver's ed teacher during HS. She was a turn signal nazi! So I always remember to use mine because if I don't I can hear her in my head yelling "LET THE OTHER DRIVERS KNOW YOU'RE TURNING!" She always scared the out of me if I didn't use it and I'm afraid one of these days if I don't use my turn signal she's gonna pop out of nowhere and scream at me "use your turn signal, veronica!"

ALWAYS! It drives me nuts when people don't use their turn signals. When I was learning to drive I was told...just use it all the time and it will just become habit.

YES! ALWAYS! YES I use my turn signal! This is my biggest pet peave. RRRR I hate it when people do not use their turn signal. I get so mad when someone decides to turn right in front of me without even a thought of using it. What do they think they are put on the car for?

Me too! HUGE PEEVE of mine when people don't use signals! I even use them leaving my driveway!

I use mine all the time out of habit.

Last time I visited with my IL, we were following them in our car out to dinner. My FIL is the type to quickly change lanes and then exit. Not a good scenario anytime but when someone is following you....
So we get out of the car at the restaurant and I walk up to my ILs all concerned. "Wow, you really need to get your car to the mechanic right away. I can't believe how bad that's gotten. Luckily you haven't been in an accident." "What are you talking about? There's nothing wrong with my car." "No? Have you noticed that your turn signals have stopped working."
To which I usually get a glare from FIL and a laugh from MIL. Good thing I only visit once a year. They still like me.

Oh my gosh.. this is such a pet peeve of mine. I often wonder why "turn signals are optional in some cars"...I ALWAYS use my signal ,even when turning into my own driveway, it is just habit to me. Even if I am making a right turn, and nobody is behind me, or coming from the other direction, I still use it. My husband uses his every now and then. I often say "It must be nice to have that option"...And yes, I say it very sarcastically.
But, a lot of drivers in general, just dont use them. Good example, I am making a left turn(just green light, not green arrow). There is a car opposite of me coming my direction.. They do not have a signal on. I "assume" they are going straight, so I wait until they pass so I can complete my left turn. BUT NO....they are turning right, so obviously they have the optional turn signal in their car....it really makes me mad that drivers are so rude out there.

when turning after stopping at a 4-way stop sign when no one else is around?
DH was pulled over tonight for not using his turn signal. The cop was in a parking lot and dh did not see him. (Gee, must have been a slow night for crime. )

I don't think I always use my turn signal unless another car is around. Dh got a verbal warning, luckily.

Just curious - anyone else not use their turn signals in this situation?

I always use my turn signal. It doesn't matter if I am the only car on the road. It bugs the crap out of me when people don't use theirs.

I think I wind up using it a little over half the time. The main times I don't use it is when I am in a turn lane so it should be obvious that I am going to turn.

Yup, I use it all the time to the point of even doing it on a sharp curve if I'm not thinking.

Oh yeah, it's huge pet peeve of mine, too. So yes, I use them all the time. I've even caught myself using it to turn out of the driveway, too. No one uses theirs around here. We're all supposed to be mind readers, I guess. Drivers around me will always know my intentions.
