Do you use the Disney Visa card?

Dh and I are looking at opening a Disney Visa card. But we want to hear from others what they like or dislike about the card. What you use it for?

We are a military family who is starting to enjoy more trips to Disney and Disney cruises. Just want to know if it would be a good fit for our family.

Thanks!

No. I get better rewards on almost every CC I have. I got it so I'd have the option of sales that are for card-members only, but I've never actually used it.

My go-to cards are an AmEx that gives me 6% back on groceries, a USAA AmEx that gives me 5% back on gas, and then just about everything else goes on our Citi Double Cash that gives us 2% back.

We opened it to take advantage of the sign-on bonus, which can be significant depending on the deal you find. After that, we only keep it in our wallet when going to Disney to potentially use for cardholder-only things. Frankly, we never took it out of our wallets.

I use mine for everyday purchases. I don't go on a Disney vacation often so I let the rewards accumulate and end up with around $1000 for use toward a trip.

No! DH got one when we were planning a trip last - he got a $200 bonus when we spent a certain amount of money in the first 3 months. The card is now cancelled. I have an AMEx I use for the grocery cash back, Chase Sapphire for the 2% on dining and travel (points I convert to SW rapid rewards mostly), and DH has an American Airline card which he uses for travel, plus it gives him a free checked bag (he flies them a lot).

Of course there are better cards but I enjoy my Disney visa. It just depends on how much you go to Disney. If you go often you can enjoy some cool discounts on property. I pay for all my groceries and gas in cash so none of those other cards help me. I put all my business expenses on my Disney visa and by the time we take a trip we can pay for quite a few meals. It works for me!

It's our everyday card and we use the Premier version for the extra 1%. We also have a Chase Sapphire Preferred, but will be cancelling that one. We don't travel that much, so for our usual monthly expenses, we come out further ahead with the dining/gas/grocery benefits of the Disney card.

We use it frequently and are letting the rewards accumulate for the next big trip. Are there better cards? Sure. But this one gave us a comfortable limit, and I like the extra 1% on the Premier card.

We just got one and use it for business expenses (mostly Home Depot/ Lowes type places) so we didn't get the premier one since we aren't buying gas or groceries with it. I like that it is linked to my Chase account and the extra little perks- specifically looking forward to the Star Wars meet and greet next year when we go. We also have a Chase card that gives us 1% on everything and 5% on different things quarterly.

I have one, but don't use it. My Capital One Venture card gives me 2% on everything and can be redeemed for any kind of travel.

I use it more or less now for everything we purchase on plastic. I used to have an airline card, a gas card, an amex, a visa, etc. which all had their own perks. For me it was about consolidating my monthly payment to one source and accumulating money that would not be used on anything other than Disney. Other cards may be a little better month to month, but if I know I am going as a DVC member this accumulated money helps pay for food, dues, or tickets that I am going to have to spend on anyway.

We've had one for over 15 years, but only 'use' it for the meet n greets and other perks and discounts at Disney. We have other cards which give much, much better rewards, so actually charging anything on it would be a waste. Right now Chase Sapphire, Chase Freedom, and Southwest are our go to cards.

We have the No Annual Fee card. We use it for all our purchases. When we get to Disney, we use it for our meals to cushion the sticker shock of disney dining.

I have the card and had signed on for the bonus of $200. I enjoy the card design (which is a silly reason to keep it), but I also like that I earn Disney Dollars (or whatever they're called), because it makes me feel that much closer to Disney. But there's an annual fee on my card and I really haven't accumulated that many points in the time that I've had it. (Almost two years.) But I also haven't used the card the way most people use credit cards, I suppose. It doesn't replace my bank card in most purchases. Still, I get offers in my email for special events and what not. There's also the Chase lounge, I believe, in Epcot. So for park perks, it's helpful (if you take advantage of them). But I wouldn't get it if you're interested in accumulating bonuses on purchases, since other cards definitely have higher cash back etc offers.

Got it for the sign on of $200 gift card plus the extra meet and greets. interest rate is high but if you pay it off then I think its worth it. I have the no annual fee card and to get 1% towards our trip is good. I don't have other cc with higher rewards so this works for me.

We've had one since they came out in 2003...so I guess for 13 years now. While there are definitely other cards that offer better perks, this one works well for us. We use it for *everything* and since we typically only go to Disney every 2 years, we're able to accumulate about $1500 in rewards dollars towards each trip. There's also the ability to have 0% financing for 6 months on Disney Vacation packages. We've never taken advantage of that, but I know a lot of people do. We also have a Chase Freedom card (got it when there was a $300 bonus) and we use that card for whatever category is in the 5% bonus that quarter (right now it's gas). Whatever rewards we accumulate on the Chase Freedom card I get in cash and use towards our Disney trip. The Disney Visa works for us because it's simple to use, easy to cash in the rewards, and we enjoy the discount on souvenirs when we use the card. And secretly, I like that it sort of forces us to go to Disney every few years. If we had a card that accrued cash back or airline miles or anything else, we'd probably never use the rewards. Disney rewards get used.

My wife has the Premier for 2% back on most purchases and I have the regular mostly sitting as a place holder for a Sapphire Preferred down the road. My wife uses hers for everything (mostly because she loves the castle image on the front and thats how she justifies the annual fee for hers) and I use the Amex Blue Cash Preferred for the 6% on groceries and 3% on gas ( I do the grocery shopping and filling up our cars). My Citi Double Cash gets everything else for 2%. We only cash out the rewards before we go on our Disney trips and that is our fun money. Rewards have always used for pleasure and not bills. There are better options for rewards but it just feels magical to pull it out and remind us of what we like to do. It does have some decent park perks like the photo ops and merchandise discounts. They also offer 6m vacation financing.

I have the regular on with no annual fee. I don't use it. I have other cards that have better rewards. I used it for the initial Points and the DCL $50 on board credit on our first cruise. But, the OBB is not combinable with the on board booking credit. I've also used it a few times in WDW for 10% off some restaurants.

I've had the regular one since 2004. At first I used it a lot, but less often as I've acquired credit cards with better rewards and better signup bonuses. My favorite card now is my Amex Blue Cash Preferred which as a PP mentioned, gives 6% cash back on groceries (which includes gift cards purchased at grocery stores) and 3% on gas and department stores. As cute as I think the Disney Visa is, I'll take six times the rewards with my Amex. I can redeem my cashback as a statement credit towards any part of my vacation, not just the Disney part. Since I plan on keeping the Disney Visa, I'll always be able to use it for any of the benefits I want to take advantage of, but the bulk of my spending goes on other higher rewards cards.
