Do you use EMH at night?

We would rather do EMH than rope drop. There is something so magical about being in the parks until midnight or 2am. So easy to get on rides and take pictures in all those popular places. Love it! We are like a pp and plan our schedule around which parks have the evening EMH and go from there.

Enjoy!!

We have always avoided emh's because of recommendations on websites, and we always do rope drop. Now that my kids are getting older (teenager and tween), I'm starting to reconsider. I think they might enjoy going to the parks late and sleeping in. So, do you use emh's at night? What are your opinions... Especially in comparison to rope drop?

We do both the AM and PM. My favorite is doing Hollywood Studios, I did all the attractions in the 2 hours one night and ended at Tower of Terror. My niece and I stayed for EMH at MK our last day last summer and didn't get back to the hotel until 4:00a. (3:00a closing)

I am typically a morning person...except when at Disney World. Then I turn into a night owl. My family and I love late night hours at any of the parks (the later the better!) It's cooler when the sun is down, and I just love the way the parks are so beautifully lit in the evening. We have a teenager and a 3 year old. Before DD was born our style was to (with park hoppers) hit park in the morning, retire to our resort in the afternoon for a nap, then head back out to whatever park was open the latest that evening. Now that we have our DD in tow we tour differently, as she is usually ready to bed down by 8-9pm. DH, DS and I now return to resort as we used to for down time and then we alternate which one of us goes back out with DS so he gets some time to ride things a little more thrilling and time away from his sister. But there's just something about being out at night in Disney World that I can't get enough of.

It totally depends on when you go to WDW. If MK closes at 10pm, Evening EMH ends at midnight. That is not late enough for the crowds to thin adequately for very short lines at the most popular rides. In those situations, rope drop is far more beneficial if your goal is to maximize rides on major attractions.

However, if you go in the summer where the park stays open until 2am or 3am, those hours past midnight can be awesome.

Hahah, yeah, we normally hit the parks pretty hard. I have a bad ankle and on our first trip, I literally couldn't walk by the end of our trip. I remember having to hop on one foot all the way to our gate at the airport. I learned my lesson for the trips after that and got myself a great ankle wrap brace which has been a life saver. However, we've only done 1 week trips in the past and this next trip will be our first 2 week trip, so I'm afraid I will be on a gurney bed by the time we're done.
Ha, I have to wear a knee brace if I'm walking over 3 miles. I probably look ridiculous in WDW, in my ugly Teva sandals and knee brace, but I don't care :) I can run around the parks with the best of 'em in those.

We're evening EMH people too. Depending on how late the park is open, the wait times can still be on the longish side, but the parks just have a whole different feel at night. Plus it's generally so much cooler out.

I guess I'll wait and see when park hours come out for the first of April, and decide for sure...but sleeping in on vacation sounds pretty tempting! :)

We do both EMH in the morning and at night...I think I actually prefer the morning since most people want to sleep in and we usually ride multiple rides before everyone else gets there!

We love MK evening EMH. Awesome being in the park late at night. Epcot not so much. We went a couple of weeks ago and there is very little open in WS during EMH. We got to Japan around 10pm and found out the store and Saki carts all closed at 9pm. For some reason I always thought there was a lot more open in WS right up through 11pm. We were really bummed...in fact we had to rearrange our schedule for the rest of the trip so I could get my Saki/Kirin fix and the kids could get their Japan store fix.

We've never done emh evenings but we are on our upcoming trip. We are going to arrive at the MK in the evening and try to ride it out until closing. I don't know if I am going to make it :worship: but I am going to try.

My 3 kids are tweens and we experienced our Evening EMH at MK this past Spring Break. It was late March into early April. It was very crowded when we got to the park. There was a huge line for TTA. We are RD - we were shocked. We did our FPP attractions and then did things we haven't done in ages - Monster's Inc Laugh Floor and a few other anytime attractions. Then it got cold. Not CT cold, FL cold. The temp dipped to 50 degrees and the park emptied! We had the best night and we didn't even end up staying for the EMH because everyone left and we rode everything we wanted before Wishes! The problem I have with evening EMH is that the kids are spent the next day. If you are having a resort day or doing evening EMH the next day at another park I guess it works but my kids need to sleep. They are grouches without a good night sleep - but you know your kids best!

FP+ has actually made it easier for us to do evening EMH. We could never do it before because we were always up for RD. Now we can schedule the next day's FPs for a little later and enjoy the late nights.

Same here we are going for the 2:00am closing. Just hope we can make it. We plan on trying to take an afternoon nap but not sure how that will go :rotfl:

We are more of the ROPE DROP type but we have done the EMH at MK and EC before too. It just means we can't ROPE DROP the next day. The EC ones are pretty good. You can usually ride things and their EMH isn't as late as MK.

What is EC? Epcot?

Magic Kingdom EMH are awesome. But you need to get Hoppers, because days with Extra Magic Hours are always more crowded. We like to visit a recommended park, take a nap, go eat somewhere nice, and spend the evening at EMH. But I agree, Epcot and DHS EMHs are probably not worth it.

DHS pm EMH is worth it if you have little kids. The only time they have the Disney Jr. dance party is during pm EMH.

I love both am and pm EMH at MK. Only am at the other parks as AK currently has no pm and HS and EPCOT do not have enough rides to make pm worth it. I am neither a morning person not a night owl but can make both times work for me at WDW!!! Mornings are a lot less crowded at MK EMH but evenings are just special. If the schedule does not dramatically change I get two of each during my trip!!!!
