Do you Tivo?

T.V. without TiVo is like an Airplane without wings.

I'm not sure. We got ReplayTV because (at the time) it was the only one that connected through high speed internet. Plus, it had features like the commercial advance and myReplayTV where I can program my unit online.

I originally bought a Hughes TiVo combination unit with TiVo and DirecTV receiver together. Then, I found out to record local channels (85% of the shows I wanted to record) I needed to have local channels on DirecTV :(. That was a year ago and we still don't have locals here in Madison.

I needed to buy a DirecTV receiver and DVR seperately, so we choose the ReplayTV unit.

You are all just warming the cockles of my heart!!! :teeth:

I work for a retailer that sells oodles of TiVO. We are seeing much of the same from our clients, that you are all saying.

Enjoy your new techie toys. It's pretty cool, isn't it?

My parents got a Replay TV unit with the commercial skip (LOVE that!) about a year ago. After seeing it in use I *needed* one in our house too! Thursday nights always brought a big fight because I had to run the VCR on both the TV in the living room and the bedroom to tape Survivor/CSI and the NBC Thursday night stuff at the same time. DH complained about this; I was always searching for a tape I could use and complaining because with satellite tv you can't program the vcr to get the channels so I would have to set the tv on the channel I wanted in our room, set the vcr timer and put a note on the TV not to change the channel. :lol In doing research I found out we could switch from Dish Network to Direct TV and get a Tivo unit with 2 inputs for $99! That meant no tapes and I could record both channels on one tv. That made my year! :teeth:

Tivo has changed our lives too! I love the season pass deal. I won't have to remind myself that Survivor will move to Wed. during the NCAA basketball playoffs in March...Tivo will take care of it! :) I love that there is always something on hand for the kids to watch without having to search out a tape or DVD. I can't imagine going back to life without Tivo!

I love the wish lists too! I had one set to automatically record any travel related show with Disney in the description untill I got to see all of the Great Hotels shows featuring Disney resorts. It was always a treat to see a "behind the scenes" or some profile show on Disney show up on our "Now Playing" list!

We have season passes for Friends, Survivor, CSI, CSI Miami, Will and Grace, ER, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Oprah, DH recorded all of the UGA football games, the kids have Bear in the Big Blue House, Bob the Builder, Max and Ruby (can I just say how annoying I find Max and Ruby to be! ) and Dora the Explorer.

A new report, released just this week, said consumers were more interested in Tivo in order to zap commercials than to record favorite programs!

I hope to get one soon, and I'm looking forward to both!
