Do you think we can still get MK done if we get there around noon?

I know most people do 2 days there, but with me and my DH we want to do a handful of must-sees and see the Spectro Parade and Wishes at night. I realize the lines will be longer in the afternoon, but hopefully we can use FastPass. They changed Spectro on us and it's either Mon, Fri or Sat.. I think I want to avoid Fri and Sat at MK.

Well, can you see most of MK-I would say no.

What are the handful of must sees? That would be helpful to know so you can get some feedback. What dates?

If you want to catch extremely popular attractions during a busy time, the fast pass times might be several hours away. I have also heard fast passes can run out for the headliner attractions.

Maybe take the approach to see what you can and not worry about the rest.

Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

If you only have a handful of attractions you want to see at the MK in addition to the fireworks & the parade, then plan carefully & try it. Do keep in mind though that many guests start their vacation at the MK on Mondays (having arrived on Sunday), so it might be busy on Monday, too.

Another thought is to wait until you arrive at WDW & check the park schedules to be sure more changed have not been made. When we drive, we stop at the FL Welcome Center on I95 & pick up a copy of the two week park time schedule. Then I have a few hours to look it over & think about where we might want to be on any given day.

I suspect that a previous poster was serious (& not poking fun at you) when you asked about doing everything at the MK if you don't arrive until noon or so. Persoanlly I think it is hard to do everything at any of the parks in just part of a day. But if you have a time limit, then do whatever you can in the time you have.

No, I'm not.
If you asked that to poke fun that's not funny.

Sorry! I didn't mean it that way. But I think it would be difficult to really experience MK in half a day, especially in the afternoon. It gets very crowded after 11 or so, and even with fastpasses, it would be next to impossible. A better way to do it would perhaps be to go several half days. Go in the morning when you can get on most attractions, then go another day in the afternoon for the parades and Wishes.

It's ok. It was just a one liner and I was thinking you were being snotty with me or something :)

Well, we aren't really parade people but though Spectro would be great - heard great reviews. So we will skip the afternoon parade and ride rides during that time. Our handful is - Philharmagic, small world (I like it I don't know why), splash mt, space mt, stitch, pirates, haunted mansion. Then whatever else we have time for. Oh and getting pic and Mickey's autograph (I'm such a child sometimes) - which I imagine may take some time.

My wife and I are spending part of our Disney vacation this summer with her parents, who haven't been to The World in 20 years or so. We're trying to give them the best experience we can, based on our years of "expertise."

So...we're hitting the MK at 8, for breakfast at the Crystal Palace. That puts us smack dab inside the park for the rope drop. Then we're going to spend the morning hitting the highlights that won't scare the bejeesus out of their 70-year-old hearts: Buzz, Small World, PhilharMagic, Pooh, Haunted Mansion, and maybe Pirates. Then lunch. Then back to the hotel for a nap. And then after resting up, off to Narcoosee's for dinner, followed by Spectro and Wishes.

Realizing, of course, that your mileage may vary...and your interests are probably different...you could hit a few high spots in the afternoon, if you are willing to be flexible. But keep your expectations realistic. You'll have to prioritize a handful of must-sees, and then be willing to adjust, and maybe do a few things you'd rather NOT, just to fill time before your Fastpass is due. (Are you dying to see the Swiss Family Treehouse? The Tiki Room?)

Have you tried TourGuide Mike or the UG website? Both offer some specialzied tours that might fit into your needs. (For a small fee, of course.)

Good luck!!! :earsboy:

I will be checking the calendar up until we leave and when we arrive at the hotel. And of course the weather :)

This is the unofficial guide's website...for the $6.95 subscription fee, you can have access to DOZENS of touring plans. They have one for adults arriving late that I think will be right up your alley! :earsboy:

Philharmagic and Stitch shouldn't be too tough. They are large-capacity rides, so they can accommodate crowds a bit better. small world and Pirates have fast-moving queues, so even when the line LOOKS long and unmanageable, it's still not too bad. Splash and Space Mountains need to be your first FastPass stops, with the realization that your return time will likely be hours from the time you get the FP. Haunted Mansion moves more slowly due to the format of the ride. Getting a photo with Mickey is a bit time-consuming as well, particularly later in the day. Although there are opportunities in all of the parks to get a photo with the Mouse, so if you can't do that at MK, you can do that at Epcot, MGM or DAK as well.

Bottom line is .... if you're hoping to see your handful of attractions without too much standing in line, you can't do that if you don't show up until noon. It just gets so crowded by the afternoon, and if it's a Spectro night, crowds will increase a bit as parade time nears.

But as long as you go into the park knowing (KNOWING) that you will be standing in line for pretty much everything you'll want to see, and you go in prepared for that, you'll be able to see what you want to see in the afternoon and evening. By arriving later, you're basically forfeiting the chance to walk right onto some things or get early FPs for some things. You're also cutting into shopping and "walking around" time, which you might find you really want once you get there. But if standing in line doesn't bother you, then you'll be fine. If you or your husband is liable to get frustrated and grumpy standing in line after line after line, then you need to rethink your plan.
