That there would be So many people, from all walks of life who saw what HE saw? Yes, for as long as there are theme parks, there will always be the majority of folks (we all are related to them,or work with them!) who see Disney World and Disney Land as just that, a theme park.

But I wonder if he ever dreamed that there would be alot of ordinary folks, like him, who appreciated the beauty in it? Who get teary eyed when they first see the castle. Who plan trips endlessly online? Who become childlike when they see "Their" favorite character walking towards them! Who see the beauty in Epcot, the enchantment in MK, the excitement in MGM and feel transported to another land in AK?

Did he know we would help others to see what we've seen? That there are many folks who go to sleep at night dreaming HIS dream? I wonder....

bellefan66,
I sure hope he did! Maybe he is smiling on us now!

I know exactly what you mean about the castle.
I turned 40 this year. This will be only the third time I will get to go to WDW.
My kids will be hard pressed to keep up with me!

I love it all. It makes me feel like a kid! That has to be good!

Hello.....and I enjoyed reading your thread....and I too wonder about Walt's dreams and visions....we also are Disney people...and there are many out there....more crazy about Disney than we are. My wife and I love the place...live in New York and travel down 2, sometimes 3 times a year. This year it will be 3, and we are eagerly awaiting November 30th and our Magical cruise on the Magic....but one big question I keep coming back to, and my wife and I have discussed it many times...that if Walt were alive today, would he be happy with what he would see down in the Disney World area. I wonder if he would like the "budget priced" hotels--Sport--Music--Movies--Pop Century--since he seemed to like the more reserved and pristine resorts...at least that is what I see. When you say you go to sleep dreaming Disney..and get excited about booking your vacation online...I am sure many of us can relate. I have always said that sometimes the best part of my vacation is the planning and waiting for the day to come....usually it is just a pure magical experience...just to be "part of that magic"....and many people that know my wife and myself always seem to ask how we can keep going back....they must know you on a first name basis...they probably give you free rooms you go so often....all the questions that can even be looked on as sarcasim....but they just don't understand the escape to a great place....put all the pressures of the world out of your mind...get away from the telephone and sit back and just relax....
I wonder if Walt would feel his place has just gotten too commercial...out for the almighty buck....would he be happy that they sell alcohol openly in all the parks except his special place...the Magic Kingdom.....although I do know that he would be happy that it makes so many people happy...I wonder if he would have allowed all that has been built up in Downtown Disney.....what do you guys think.....

I think Walt must have known very well that his dreams were (and would be) shared by a great many people. After all, that was the basis of the success he achieved in his lifetime!

Also, he bought 40-50 square miles of land with the express purpose making it possible to build things he hadn't even thought of yet. He knew it would remain for others to decide what else to do. I think he would be very pleased to see that vision has been largely realized, even if he had issues with some parts of it.

what do you guys think.....
I think Bellefan started a very nice thread, and I would hate to see it turned into something nasty. There are threads about your other questions on the debate board.

I think he would be pleased. It's not perfect, but who could ask for more, 30+ years after their death? Long live WDW! :p (and all the rest)

Guys....I do think that Disney World is the greatest place on earth...not to be negative at all but I do wonder if he would be pleased with everything that has evolved....he did buy a lot of land..and yes...he did it in secret but part of the land buy as I understand it was to keep it hidden from the highways--unlike Disneyland.....and yes...he did have a vision with Epcot.....I love the place like all of you....and my family is crazy about it to...but like I said...I really wonder if he would be pleased.....I know for the most part we all are....
Thanks....
Tom

I think if he could see all the people on these boards it would wierd him out

I think that Walt would enjoy seeing how is original vision has evolved to include future generations using advancements in technology, etc. to illustrate his ideals and even capture their attention. He may have had the thought that one day his "simplistic views" may be cast aside, deemed old fashioned, but secretly hoped that his love and passion would be taken on by others who would be around to carry it on.

I love Disney...even now...my children have almost every comfort of modern life but they, like I, enjoy the children they are allowed to be when visiting WDW.
