Do you think Universal would ever join the timeshare game?

While reading about the billions Universal has invested to open Epic Universe, I saw hotels within the plans. It's interesting to wonder if Universal could ever get start their own timeshares. Add-on-itis sufferers :) ...would you ever consider buying?

If they do, I would think they will probably affiliate with an existing company for management and reservations, like Marriott or Hilton Grand Vacations.

Remember, the general (non-Disney) Orlando timeshare market is pretty crowded, and some aren't doing especially well.

While I probably would not buy (although Epic Universe could change that opinion) it would be great, because it would definitely perk up Bob Chapek's mouse ears.

The only reason we have 4 parks to go to is because of Universal. We win the more they compete.

I can see it especially if the development of the new chunk of land moves forward. Way to lucrative to pass up

From what I was told by someone in the know they were at least talking about it several years ago. As Universal expands it would seem like a better time now than it did then.

I’ve said for years that I’d sell Dvc and buy a universal timeshare (assuming it had the same perks as onsite deluxes).

Unless the additional park gives Universal enough to do to hold people there for at least 5 nights, and maintains a relatively high minimum buy in...or goes traditional with set weeks, it may encounter the same perceived booking issues as DVC with no availability in the studio-type rooms when everyone wants to go. I don't think currently many people spend 5 to 7 nights in the universal hotels. And again, Universal may build it, but they'd have an outside company manage it...as Universal does not operate their own hotels.
