Do you think this is really true?

On another board someone wrote why they hate Disney. Does thisk kind of chaotic nd dangerous situation happen or is the OP exaggerating?

I have been three times, and I just roll my eyes when dh suggests we take ds. Last time we were there seven of their good rides were broken down, most for the whole day. They weren't even offering any discounts or anything. What is the point of Disney World without the rides?

Second time we went, we took my 11 yo niece and the crowds were horrendous. We were watching the parade at night, and it was so packed, that people were starting to crush other people. Someone panicked and another person started to throw up, and chaos ensued. A young guy managed to climb up a wall behind where we were pinned in and after he helped his girlfriend up, my dsis and I handed him our niece to get her to safety, and then he helped us up. We had to climb through some bushes to get out of there, but man, what a nightmare!

Well I don't like huge crowds nor when lots of rides are closed either, but that doesn't keep me from liking the whole park, nor wanting to return.

I think there are certain types of people that can find something wrong with anything in order for them to complain, they are not happy unless they have something to complain about.

But not liking Disney is equivalent to not liking mom and apple pie.

OK - I'd like to know which 7 rides in one park were shut down the whole day. That just doesn't seem possible to me.

As for climbing a wall where they were pinned against, where would that be? Main Street USA parades are surrounded by storefronts. MGM is the same way. While it might be tough walking around AK during the parade, it is possible to get out and about of the crowd.

Seems like someone's exaggerating a bit much!

I agree with both pp...sometimes people can take a small situation and turn it into something it wasn't. But, it certainly FELT like it was to them. I try to remember everyone is different so our perspectives are always alot different!

Someone needs to stop riding the drama llama ;)

Seven rides?? I don't believe that.

I also can't think of a wall that this person could have been sitting on to watch the parade.

Anyway, no I don't believe any of it. I have heard that Christmas & Thanksgiving are really crowded though.

I would have to ask her what time of the year she went. If she says Christmas, tell her not to go that time again. If she says September, tell her she's lying because it would never be that crowded in Sept.

Nevermind, don't say any of it. I'd rather her just not go.:)

This story sounds circumspect.:sad2:
And if you hate WDW why would you post here?

Are you sure it wasn't the bridal gown sale at Filene's basement? ;)

The OP stated she read the story on another board - I assume one not on the DIS at all - she/he was asking if the story had any grains of truth. I can believe that someone might have thrown up, and it might have been crowded, but I can't believe that 7 rides in one park were closed all on the same day. I think someone had a bee up their bonnet...

I can't figure out if you are quoting from the other board or if this is your story:confused3

Well whoever the story belongs to....maybe you shouldn't go back. Sounds like you hate it..........

It's the description of someone climbing a wall to get away from crowds that makes me not believe this story. I can't picture where this wall would be - I think the whole thing is made up.

It's entirely possible that the woman quoted went during the off-season and between the parks several rides were down for routine maintenance. Additionally, other rides (such as Test Track, which goes down during inclement weather) were down for unforseen reasons. The "discount" is in the smaller crowds.

People do tend to crowd a bit during parades and fireworks. Stand your ground while waiting/watching the parade and then stand aside after the parade to let the park clear out a bit.

In the second instance, it sounds like the woman quoted went during a peak time. I think this woman should have spent a bit more time planning her trips... she might've found out ahead of time which rides would be down for maintenance for the first trip and that crowds were expected to be high during her second trip.

Honestly, some people aren't "Disney" people... they don't like the lines, the cost, the syrupy music piped in, the fairytale quality, etc... That's fine, as far as I'm concerned... fewer crowds for the rest of us!

ITA!

We were in Disneyland during the last week of the electric light parade before they moved it to the world. It was so crowded and the popular rides were waits of at least 90-120 min *this was however before fast pass* but there were wall to wall people in there. We had small kids with us but never had a need to climb a wall to get out.

I believe the vomit stuff that happens all the time and we usually go to the Land in Sept so there are some rides down but we've never encountered 7 in one day during off season. Personally that sounds a little like "things that make you go hmmmmmmm"

Not sure of the exact total but the 7 rides down comment could have been true about DL just before they opened things back up for the 50th celebration. I do remember warning a friend not to go because of all the rides I had read would be down.

I also believe the parade/vomit story. We have waited in a couple of places that we would not have been able to get out of if going into the parade route were not an option. Both places that come to mind were in MGM and AK.

We were there on what was originally the last day of the electric light parade (they extended it another week). The crowd on Main Street made it difficult to walk. But even then, people were calm and polite.

Exaggerating?!?! Hardly!! I was there just last month and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the Skyway, Mickey Mouse Revue, Mike Fink Keel Boats, Mission to Mars, and If You Had Wings were all shut down. As a matter of fact, a CM told me that they were never going to open again!!! I want a refund!!! I hate you Walter Elias Disney...HATE YOU!!!!!!!
